S9 V1.53/3.53 won't upgrade to 2.53

I assume (as it boots up saying just v3.53) that this unit is as the 1.53/3.53 level.

I have downloaded 2.53 and unzipped into S9 root. On restarting I get no updating message or delay - just boots up into the old version.

Have I missed something ?

Also I don't need or want any of the Korea-specific stuff, like Kor Dictionary - how do I dump that ?

uhh... where'd you get your unit from? i'm assuming korea cause you can't downgrade to v2.xx. 2.xx is for USA units only! just use 1.xx and you'll be fine. no difference with 2.xx and 1.xx anyways

Got it 'used'. May well have been a Korean student, or somebody who got it from there. Hard to get rid of the Korean dictionary crud, it seems. Or is it ?
