The Rockbox scramble tool can be used to make any of the Cowon firmware files into a ".d2" file which can be easily selected and booted from the Rockbox file menu.
I have created these files for each of the latest firmware, so all you have to do to try out a new firmware is copy the firmware to your D2, start Rockbox, and select it! Here is the link to my MediaFire folder containing them all. Before you load a different firmware image please make sure you back up the system folder on your D2, as you will lose your settings (BBE/equalizer etc). Also, remember the firmware image you select is using the resources you installed with whichever firmware you use primarily, so depending on what theme you are using (even if it is the default Cowon one), you may find the icons and text jumbled up with lines across the screen, because the resource file is not compatible with the firmware image you selected. There is currently now way around this, as far as I know. Feel free to correct me. Beware! DO NOT load a DAB/DMB firmware on a non-DAB/DMB D2! Otherwise you risk damaging your D2. I hope this is useful to somebody. If you would like to request a different firmware image to be "scrambled" and uploaded, please do, I am happy to oblige. This could be a great way to test older firmwares without the hassle (or whatever). -Andrew
