Default BBE+ really an improvement?

One week have passed since I upgraded to 2.02, and though I initially was very fond of the new BBE sound (I could not stand the old BBE because of sibilance) I'm not that sure anymore. Bass seems less defined and the EQ doesn't behave the way it did (I'm sure it does, but I get this feeling due to the new overall sound of the new BBE I guess).

Any opinions?

I only noticed a difference on BBE, the sound is definitely less sibilant
And for the bass, I *think* it's because you got used to them, not sure ... I was surprised by the bass the first time, and now definitely less :p

For me, I am not sure if got any improvements at all. Infact I keep on wondering if the sound quality (to my taste) has actually gone down. Far from enjoying the benefits of BBE+, I keep on getting this urge to go back to 1.59 (I have the DAB version) in the hope of getting the old sound quality back.

D2+ is a hype, D2 is still better. There I said it.

That RMAA confirms the sibilance thing.

More opinions please!

I have been trying to discover what DAC chip has Cowon D2+ and if BBE/BBE+ is chip dependant.
I wonder if D2+ have the same chip of S9 Wolfson WM8970S and if this chip brings BBE+ capabilities (also Viva).

By ear I'm not able to notice a difference using BBE+ 3.02, as I really notice when I use with BBE in Cowon D2 firmware (3.59).

The only prove is the graph of DFTK which I think are very serious tests.

But... please... let's not stay in the sentence that Cowon D2+ is identical or almost identical to Cowon D2, it would be better to know what Cowon D2+ have inside... it seems that Cowon so far haven't give any detail in the chipset of the new D2+.

The hardware seems to be identical. The BBE effect no doubt is changed. I guess EQ and mach3 etc are unchanged.
