U5 Firmware - The Two Versions (+1) Explained
1.XX - This is the International firmware. Most commonly this will be the stock firmware that arrives on your U5 outside of S.Korea. With this firmware you can use M3U playlists, browse based on tags (but not by file/folder) and connect to music on the go services and audible services using the MTP protocol. This release does not allow for the playback of Ogg Vorbis or FLAC files, you cannot delete files from the device on the go
2.XX - This is the Korean firmware. Compared to the International firmware this firmware adds support for both Ogg Vorbis and FLAC, it also adds support for "Dynamic Playlists" and the ability to delete files on the go. On the downside, the ability to play M3U playlists is lost as well as support of the MTP protocol. You can only use File/Folder view with this firmware. Only Korean and English menus are supported, selecting other languages such as Japanese or Spanish will give you English menus. As for song titles and filenames, characters in other languages such as Japanese are fully supported.
3.XX - This firmware seems to have identical features as 2.XX. As yet we have not determined why it was released
Any of these firmware can be run on your U5 regardless of where you bought it.
Features contained in each FW definition are based on the latest released Firmware.
