Default Unresponsive Touch Screen - Inconsistent To Area Effecting

Let me first say, thanks to all who have provided information to this forum. I've been able to use the search function in the past to find the answers to my questions or problems. However, I can't seem to find an answer to my latest problem.

Problem:
My player has started becoming unresponsive, but I wouldn't say locking up.
In the beginning it was isolated to the right side of the screen when you wanted to use the skip forward button. Then it became, unresponsive to the Video and System Option and the other problems went away.(Firmware 2.53)

So I figured after reading things I should change firmware. So I went back to the firmware it came with(2.50). I had had no problems with it but wanted to add a skin. This being the only reason I had changed it. It worked fine for a little while until the past week. It has with each time I power it on, got a little worse. The point I'm at now is...You are able to get the player to start playing but once the video or audio starts, the problems start. Say the menu options are up. The player is responsive to your first touch, but will not be responsive to another touch. You must hit the menu button on top or wait for the players screen to fade out. Or the audio can be playing and you want to skip forward. You can touch it once and you get all the options. Then it becomes unresponsive to skip, pause, close, directory, etc. However the menu buttons and volume buttons on top work.

Sorry this is so long, I was just hoping to provide as much information as possible off the bat. And thanks in advance for any information that can be provided.

I have the same problem with my player. I think on my end though, its a hardware issue. It's a 8GB D2 btw.

Strange, have you tried it when running on AC power? Manual Reset? How does it handle other memory/ cpu intensive tasks? (I guess that would just be flash apps/ maybe voice recording) Maybe using the quick format option on your internal flash memory as described here - http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20157 - would help (not accessing sytem files properly?) Maybe somebody with more experience than myself can give you a better answer but to me it looks like a hardware issue that may require repair or replacement.

Good luck! >_<

What version of the D2 do you have? It doesn't really matter but it would be interesting to know. You can find the version number on the box.

Its a Version 2.1(W). Yeah my next move is to try 3.54. However, it worked almost flawlessly last night and then I turn it on today to find it locked from the start.

In notepad, are the lines drawn at the tip of the pointer? I'm having issues that seem like the touchscreen is no longer calibrated correctly. My old Palm used to drift horribly, but at least it had an easy to access calibrate routine to fix the problem. Is there such a thing anywhere in the D2 firmware?

Unfortunately, there is no way to calibrate the D2 screen like a PDA...

You could try reloading the firmware, but your best bet is to get a RMA number for it and send it to Cowon for repair.

Hopefully it is still under warranty...

Each firmware a new hope and with each new hope, anticipation turned into frustration. After going through 2.50b, 2.51, 2.53, and 3.54, I sent Cowon a letter and got an RMA number. They really didn't clarify as to what might be the problem. Email read, "It needs repaired, get an RMA number." At least they were to the point. Anyone know how long this takes on average?

Yep mine is not calibrated correctly anymore either. It comes and goes... I sure wish there was a way to calibrate this thing. It's way off.
