Dude, I don't care how many ways you look at it and how many ways people try and justify it... The shuffle sucks. It is truely the worst written sudo random code there is.

Then sell your D2, and stop crying.
Keep your complaining in the main forum, where it's irrelevancy belongs.

I'm crying. Because I cut some onions a while ago (seriously).
Expressing opinion's good when it's either positive or constructive. Expressing it for the sake of downplaying without a little discussion material is just irritating (as it plays against the purpose of a forum). So someone is the master of the obvious. Then what? I haven't had issues with the shuffle option, tbh. At work I would set it to play all > shuffle > no repeats, and be happy. That's the only instance of which I feel shuffle is useful, unless as previously stated, you have a mix that you'd just like to toss around. seirerman: I've noticed this, too, with select artists with songs that are named in similar fashions, like freaking Te' and their 209482098420-word tracks. Since they use heavy Kanji characters, if you know the order of japanese alphabets, you can predict the next track, sometimes. It's not bad, though, since post-rock often rolls to the next rather fluently regardless of order.

Hey, nothing is perfect indeed. But this is just a simple thing to fix. I agree with dman77 and chrisyu here.

it works fine when you first initiate the shuffle, but once you turn off the player and start it back up, it resets back to song 1/xxxx and plays the songs you listened to before you turned it off again... really annoying...

Exactly. Would it be so hard to fix this? Really, I'm not complaining so much about the D2 as I am about Cowon's willful inability to fix what is seemingly a minor problem that a LOT of folks hate. Perhaps having artists and songs repeated ad nauseum is preferable to some with limited musical tastes and the insane need for monotony, but some here do not have those tastes and needs. |

well, the shuffle does go back to the same song for me which is ignoring but it doesn't happen that offered.

This last Holiday season I created my own pseudo-shuffle. I threw every Xmas song I've ripped into a single folder, along with some non-holiday acoustic and classical stuff. Since I rip with the track number in the name, when I play the folder it played the first song from each CD, then the second, etc. I could play it for hours and it would never repeat a song. I'd just restart from wherever I left off before.

Everytime I listen in shuffle mode I get the feeling that the D2 prefers songs that start with one of the first letters in the alphabet, like a to g. It can get really annoying when you anticipate hearing something from a band starting with "the" and then you get something that starts with a b again and again and again.
Have any of you noticed this before? (Firmware 2.51, Folder mode) Other than that, I LOVE MY D2! |
