Does anyone use their D2 in their car? How does it work out? Can you navigate alright while driving?

Don't navigate while driving. That's as bad as using your phone while driving!
After you get used to the interface, you can change directories while at stoplights really quickly.

Yes I can do it while im driving, but I usually only change songs when IM stopped.

However, if you're on the hold position, u can FF/RW Songs pretty easily without looking down.

My car's OEM equipment did not come with any input jack, but a smart entrepreneur took the public design work of an enthusiast group for my car brand and he now sells aftermarket add-on boards which allow the CD player in the car to optionally use AUX-In. He created the circuit board for user installation ease, then used a commerce site for offering online purchases, complete with installation instructions for various models of the same brand cars. Since this is a true AUX-In (running through the CD changer's circuit), I've read plenty of positive reviews that it sounds terrific. Zounds better than FM recievers, supposedly.

I'll find out soon, as I'm hoping to install the board and minijack cable in our two cars sometime in the next few weeks. I'll not go fiddling with the D2 while driving beyond what I do with the OEM head unit during such activities (i.e., pause/play, skip album).

The sound quality is great. Normally I put the volume at 45 and the EQ to flat/everything OFF. Sounds as good as if you had a CD in the player.

Yes, but the volume level is much lower...

so, to understand this correctly...if you put the hold button switch to on the volume goes lower than it was before you put the hold switch on?

No, JIMBOAthens is apparently noting that his experience with the D2 through AUX In has the volume coming through as lower than the CD player.

The Hold button functionality is set in the Setup menu:

Settings -> General -> User defined button -> Set Hold State

You can have the top - and + buttons work for volume or REW/FF with Hold ON, depending how you set that option.

The sound is fantastic but its the worse mp3 player to navigate whilst driving, I get especially pissed when Im changing songs and need to pay attention to the road only to go back and your back where you started in the UI

You might consider placing the D2 on Hold status and using the top buttons to move forward and back in the track orders. Safer than glancing at a display while driving, at least.

So far mine is more difficult to se than my X5 was. Tactile buttons are certainly a lot easier to use blind and one-handed.

The volume is 100% that of a CD at vol lvl 50 (for my headunit). Individual results may vary.

We have a video player in the van with RCA inputs for an auxiliary unit. So I plugged in a cable with mini plug to RCA--sounds great. I don't carry CDs around anymore.

Don't try to navigate the UI in the car. Use playlists.

Cowon players sound really good in my car. When I first tried a friend's F2 it sounded like I had magically installed a subwoofer in my trunk. I haven't tried to navigate with it. once the playlist ends I switch to a CD that's already loaded in the head unit (an OEM Panasonic with a 3.5mm aux plug)
