Default Noisy FM radio reception

Hi, i'm new to this forum. My Archos 504 just recently decided to become a brick so knowing how reliable my X5 was I decided to replace the 504 with an A2. The audio is excellent (sounds better than the X5 to me) and video seems good too although I have managed to lock it up when moving between the iAudio files. Not done much video recording or ripping yet. The problem I have is with FM reception. I'm in the east of England, reception can be variable, but I can get good clear audio with other radio equipment that I have. I've tried different headphones, moving the cable around, switching to other regions but the signal strength just seems weak and I get background noise with all but the strongest stations. Anyone else had problems with the FM or have I just been unlucky and got a defective unit?

Default Noisy FM Radio reception

Hello

I am afraid I have noticed this too. I believe that the tuner is not very sensitive. Others have remarked on this. Also, using a headphone cord is never a good way of receiving FM stereo and manufacturers know this. The X5L's reception, oddly enough, is more sensitive and does not hiss so much.

The best reception ever I have experienced was with a Iriver H10 5gb. It was a better radio than an mp3 player! However, I think you will agree as both a video and audio player the A2's star still shines....

Happy listening and viewing

Jim
