I was wondering if there is a solution for this inconvenience with the D2, or if I'm going to put this on the "future firmware wishlist"...
I use my file structure for browsing music, rather than ID3 tags (because that's what I'm used to, and some of my ID3 tags are a bit messy). The problem is, not all my files are named starting with the track #; I never needed them to be, since computer media players will always sort by track#. So, when I play some albums on my D2, they play in alphabetical order by track name, which is a tad useless. Is there any way to make the D2 always sort files by tracknumber? If not, is there a program that could amed my filenames with the track#s from the ID3 tags? (I use Mediamonkey for tagging jobbies normally, but it seems to have no such function)

MediaMonkey _absolutely_ has the ability to add track #'s to filenames. Click on the file, then via right-click or the menus select Auto Organize. You can use whatever criteria you want to rename/reorganize your files.

Ah, right you are!
I was looking in all the wrong places. Thank you, good sir! (Still, would be nice if the D2 didn't require me to do this

I think what you are wishing for here doesn't really make sense. If you are viewing files through the file tree, they should be organized just as any other file tree would sort them, e.g. alphabetical. If you want to sort them by track numbers defined by tags, you should browse by id3. Otherwise, those who choose file tree browsing because their tags screwy would be out of luck, since their files would be sorted by tracknumber tags either way.

Eh, I guess. It makes sense for me ;P
Anyways, I've finally renamed and cleaned up my entire music collection using MediaMonkey, so now I'll be able to browse both using tags and via filename without a hitch.

Heh, I actually haven't had anything random happen to my D2 so far.
The again, I've only had it for a short while, and haven't beein doing anything "funny" with the files on it - I have 100% mp3s, all tagged and foldered. The only thing that has happened a couple of times, is slight glitches in the playback (like a record skipping very briefly). They only happened a coupe of times wihin tens of hours of playback, and at completely random moments. Not sure if I'm hearing things, or if the D2 is in fact glitching every now and again. Anyone else get something like this?

Any particular reason why? Most folks find .ogg (at similar bitrate) sounds better, assuming your DAP can play it. Although from reading the forums it seems that Cowon players may be struggling with .ogg in some cases.

It does offer better compression ratios.
If I do switch It will be so that I can use both the ID3 browser and file browser on my D2, as well as that very few high capacity DAPs support vorbis and I am planning on getting a large capacity dap again. Although that may very well be the X7 ![]()
