Help Video playing?

Hi all,

I bougth recently a D2 and I dont understand how can I watch my divx/xvid videos by D2. -I know they are not 320*240 so do I have to use a program to convert my divx/xvids to 320*240? Which program? I dont want to tv out, I just want to watch them from the screen of D2 while resting. ?

Next one, does D2 show PDF of DOCs that would be great to read articles.?

Last one, years ago when I had an iriver, I uploaded the firmware and ireiver died! never connected again any pc. Now I am afraid of uploading the firmware, does anybody had such a bad stiuation?

Thanks a lot,

Cekdar

try to convert the videos withe the software, that came with your D2...
Be shure they are named *.avi or *.wmv when they are on the device, than it should work fine

I've tried eovideo/super converter/total converter...nothing works. Jetaudio is the only thing to work...It's simple and straight-forward, so no point in using something else.

Mediacoder works fine for me...
It uses MEncoder, so programs using it should work fine...

Tried Mediacoder, and while the video plays and there is no black screen, the framerate isnīt "smooth", it stutters. Well, it doesnīt really stutter, itīs just kind of "jerky", you can tell itīs not playing smoothly. Could you let me know what your settings are to make it play smoothly?

Thanks!

Default Has any one tried TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress with the D2?

Has any one tried TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress with the D2?

http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/pr...p_feature.html

I used it to convert A/V for my Sansa e280 and it works great. Better than the conversion software that came with the Sansa.

I should be getting my D2 4GB tomorrow and than my Sansa is history.

Yes I tried it...
Ok I got the movie from the DVD with DVD Decrypter, than I converted it with TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress to wmv(4 hours)...
I deleted the source file from my hard drive, dropped the wmv file in my D2 and it did not work...
SO I thought I go ahead, and convert the wmv file with jet audio...
It gave me the error, that occurs when you are trying to convert a file, that jet audio doesn't like.
Ok so I converted it with TMPGEnc to a mpeg-2 file...
Jet audio didn't like that either...
So I ripped the movie again and I am now converting it with TMPEnc to mpeg-2, hopefully it will work now, it takes only 4 hours...
I wanna watch it tomorrow!!

I think some people had bedder experiences with TMPEnc but mine are BAD...
Maybe the file is somehow damaged, becuz its not the original DVD...
But still, it does take FOREVER to convert a movie....

there must be some key features which i would love to know in jetaudio that make some of the videos work right... audio/video adv settings for sync something they know and have it placed that we dont know for other software which defaults at some other values that is fine for generic/pc and other media players but not d2 :/

tried a few different settings with Virtualdub, but could not get D2 to recognize some avi files. i may have to trudge through the vdub thread on this site...

jetaudio does a fairly good job of converting videos. i think it's a bit ostentatious to brand converted videos with their name for the first few seconds (unless there is some opt-out option i missed, or the 'plus' version is different).

as far as pdfs and other document formats being supported, i hope that cowon focuses on improving existing features before attempting to implement new ones.

Are you bothered by the Cowon startup screen as well? At least with that you can delete the .ilb file, or customize your own. I don't mind the branding on converted videos; if you blink, you miss it.

eh, the startup screen isn't a big deal, great that it is customizeable. branding converted videos to me is similiar to say, inserting a subtle but audible 'cowon' at the beginning of every piece of music file converted by jetaudio. now, would THAT bother you? but hey, jetaudio comes free with the player so i should stop complaining.
