The new Archos 504 and 604 will let you expand their codec list by buying and downloading plug-ins. I think this is something Cowon will have to do also (unless they just put ALL the codecs on their players right away). Cowon will not be able to get away with not supporting aac, wmv+a 10+11, mov and so on because iTunes is such a huge force that it will hurt Cowon a lot in the long run if they do not support these codecs. We all know that Cowon has some of the best players in the market and it would be a shame if people would get turned off by the lack of support for their videocasts and movies (I know you can convert them but there really shouldn't be a reason to that if all you need to do is have a codec installed)

Cowon's getting away with it so far. For myself, no interest in aac or the other formats you mentioned.
Why would I pay to download plug-ins I don't need and won't use? To save time on converting? Well, I guess that's a way to fleece the lazy people then.

I know that if I had a choice to either constantly convert files or buy a $10 plug-in, I would definitley buy the plug-in.
