Unless you have apple product, your proprietry cable is a waste. So many of my friends liked cowon S curve but didnt buy it cause the cable is not readily available in canada.
And if you complain about it, you get tons of crap from fanatics telling me that north america is not the only place in this world...............well for me it is. I frankly dont care about what is going on in other countries........i dont live there. Here, the standard korean cable is not a standard.
Anyways. If a basic cell phone comes along with a standard mini usb cable with at least a 5mp camera, I will get it. But if this is going to be another childish act of puting in proprietery cables, no front camera then no thanks. I am happy carrying my s9 with my phone.
In simple words, it will be a disaster in North American market if it is not made for North American market.

Just wanted to say that it's thanks to the D3 having a proprietary cable that for the last 17months it was probably one of only a handful of (or less!) android devices which supported digital audio out. I definitely did not see it as childish and have used my D3 in place of my PC as my digital audio source with my desktop setup (both headphones and speakers via my DAC) for over a year now :) It's also a pretty great portable DAP too.
However, now google are finally supporting digital audio out (18months after Cowon, even longer after Archos) for android using the mini usb port. However, as Kizune said, their new android devices do have mini usb now anyway, just in time for when google are implementing usb audio out - great timing! :) Now we just need Cowon to start implementing ICS/JB upgrades so that the usb audio out feature can be used.
I wonder if including a cellular communications components in their PMP would really push up their costs too much? e.g. The iphone is probably twice the cost of the ipod, although they are almost identical aside from phone capability. Does that difference reflect the extra cost?
Also, the OS (droid in the case of Cowon) is already optimized for phone use, so Cowon won't need to put too much time into developing that side of things for a quality PMP with phone capability.
