View Full Version : a problem with mTrans...
I converted the original A2_manual.pdf file to .csd with mTrans.
I put it on the A2 and something wierd happend:
there is more white "sholders" around the document!
I checked and it's the mTrans and not A2 that does that.
anybody noticed that???
by the way the file was readable only at the highest quality which I must say together with the other issues makes me a bit dissapointed with mTrans,
it sounds better than it really is I'm afraid.

you can zoom in by pressing the trigger key. It works best at the first zoom level for me. But, yeah, the quality is not so hot in my opinion.
the "white shoulders" are the page borders. Mtrans works like a printer but instead of printing it to a device it is creating a csd that is the reason why there are these white borders.
I can zoom in but that's not a good solution!
Is there a way to cancel those white shoulders????
it's so annoying:woh:
even when I zoom in 4x I had to try really hard to read the documents. I think it's gonna badly affect your eyes after a while reading documents like this :|. Cowon should improve the A2's zooming capabilities in future firmwares :)

I finally got a chance to try out mtrans but came across a weird problem.
Tried to convert a long PDF file (ebook of the Da Vinci code)
and after conversion, all the characters were scrambled.
It only seemed to recognize the letters correctly when they were originally in italic font, all the rest is garbage!
Has anyone else noticed this problem?
I'm going to run some more tests with other files when I get a chance.
EDIT: This already happens when checking on the PC, haven't put the CSD file on my A2.
EDIT2: Nevermind people. Looks like the version of the ebook I had carried some kind of weird copy protection scheme.
I've tried with several other pdf and it works pretty well now. Still doesn't like scientific papers (greek constants, subscript, superscript...) that much.

i can't help with the pdf files, but i found a solution to my word documents: before i convert it to csd. i make the font very big, and after the convertion it easier to read the file on the a2. i hope it will be useful for someone.
hey, did anybody figured out what 'paper' size of the MS word doc should be - so that the 'actual size' would fit into A2 screen?
BTW: if you make the font size about 22pt and margins 0.25" - it is pretty readable. (high quality is preferred) But the 'fit to width' is annoying...
OK. I have figured it out :) at least for MS word. Since nobody answered...
Here is the spects (took about 2 hours of trying):
Go to printers find 'COWON CSD' - in priting preferenses change the paper size to: B5 (JIS)
in MS Word, do these changes in 'Page Setup':
Paper size: B5 (JIS)
MARGINS:
Top, Bottom: 0.25
Left 0.3
Right 0.75
font size: 19pt - or more.
That is it! - no "sholders" I also prefer the 'Best Quality' mode.
Let me know if this helped anybody...

I downloaded all my City's bus schedules onto my a2. Its really handy, and i've used it several times already. Tho, to get the route maps to an acceptable reading quality, I had to use the hightest and slowest quality setting... Which isn't crazy because it doesn't take long to load at all.
