Hello, I love Rockbox, and would really love to use it, but I am not the best at setting up EQ settings, and therefore, am asking for some presets to be uploaded for myself, and others to use with their X5. Or, you can just type them out manually if you prefer.

This would really be appreciated.

Thanks!

I would like to side with SpiritsFade, I would appreciate the same thing. If anyone could post their presets here, that would be greatly appreciated.

I need some help understanding what "Q" is.

From:http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/ManualMainMenu#Equalizer

"Finally, the "Q" parameter controls how wide or narrow each EQ band is. Higher Q values will affect a narrow band of frequencies, while lower EQ values will affect a wider band of frequencies."

I have messed with the EQ settings for quite sometime and have not gotten the bass to sound as good as it did on the stock firmware w/ BBE. Is it possible to make the bass as loud and crisp as it was before?

Has anyone gotten this to work and would you mind telling us your EQ settings?

You will never get the same sound as BBE, because that was patented software that enhanced the bass. There is nothing like BBE on Rockbox. You can boost the equalizer in the lower range to get close to it. Try a V setting with crossfeed on (not crossfade), i find it's the one that closest mimics BBE.

Hi,

EQ is short for equalisation and should be used in order to 'equalise' the frequency response of your headphones for your ears (so that they reproduce all frequencies of a known level at the same level).

In order to properly equalise your headphones you could create a wav file with reference tones, say 30s each in steps (eg. 50 Hz, 100 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 4 kHz, 8 kHz). These must all be the same level (eg. -12 dBFS).

Play the wav file on your X5 and adjust equalisation settings so that all frequencies sound roughly the same level.
Doing this will ensure that the music you hear is what you're supposed to hear (within the limitations of the compression format).

I dont seem to be able to set the EQ at all... no matter which button i press, or which one I hold down, it jumps to the next value instead of changing the value... any ideas here?

You need the next daily release.
Things got screw up due to the new button mapping system.

Thankx...
Can't download it:

I made a new WPS in the meantime ;)
Can a mortal non programer apply patches or is this just for programming-gods?
I'd like the scroll limits patch...

I attached an EQ preset that I made using the manual settings (egggg), sounds okay, smooth and bassy...
Got Crossfeed on with the following settings:
Direct gain -1.5db
Cross gain -7.0db
HF atten -9.0db
HF cutoff 700Hz

Got Stereo width on 110%
