I bought an iAudio X5 30GB mainly because it played videos (before the 5G ipod was lanched), was not as thick as the equivelent iRiver and it was a UMS device.

Now with the lauch of the video ipod i am very temted to swap due the the number of accesories (manily car installes) for the ipod. I liked the UMS of the X5 for convenece and i thought there would be loads of accesories (such as car steros with USB ports) however it seems you are better off with a propiotary iPod connection.
You cant even get a Zcover here in the UK!

Any one else thinking like this?

The iPod doesn't look that crappy anymore since Rockbox operates on it.
Still, it's too much of a fashion icon for me... I wouldn't want to be seen in the public with Apple hardware.

But if video's a big concern in your choice of mobile players, maybe better look for a real video player like the A2 or an Archos...

Apple might be coming out with a true video iPod with a bigger screen on April 1st so it might be worth it to wait.
