I use the tuner for periodically listening to football games. The fm reception is very good, I think a hair better than my H140.

There is no stereo/mono switch I know of.

On my X5L...fm battery life is a loooong time. Definitely more than 35 hours.

You can set stereo or mono inside the settings menu.

battery life, if you are listening to just radio, is gonna be greater than if you listened to mp3 or video. there isn't any loading or any sort. I would say 12 or more hours on regular life.

Reception depends on the length of your headphone cord but its really good usually.

Yes, EQ does work for radio and deffinately can select stero/mono in settings, along with the region (FM broadcasting frequencies vary slightly according to the coutry you are in)
Reception is pretty good, although it its the same as the M3 the remote does reduce reception for some reason. Don't know for sure if this the case with the X5 though.

EQ / Mach3Bass and other sound settings do not effect FM Sound on the X5.

is that a boat?

It doesn't auto switch to mono.

One thing which I think is a shame is that you can't name the channels :(

Unless I'm missing sommet?

No, you're not missing anything - the X5 just displays the frequencies
