My X5L had a defective display-controller, the colors were all wrong, a bit like a 64-color GIF.

Last week I phoned to Cowon Germany: no waiting line, no nonsense - just a nice person at the other end of the line. He told me to just send back my X5 - no RMA numbers, no questions asked. I didn't even have to send back any peripherals, only the main device.

Today I got my X5 back, delivered to my door, fully functional. They even included that little rubber plug for the subpack-connector and two new screen protectors. And they upgraded my firmware from 2.10b5 to 2.10b7 (which Is the only 'negative' aspect since my b5-firmware was hacked to 12h44m recording time :nutty: )

And it only took a week, from Germany to Austria - wow, if all companies were like Cowon!

Thanks guys!

Ah, now that we are at it. The hard drive in my M3 died and they replaced it for me. The problem being that they didn't have any 20 gig drives at hand - so they put in a 30 gig drive so that the wait time wouldn't be too long.

How cool is that? I love my M3 even more now. The 10 gigs more are freakin awesome!

Well, I got my RMA'd X5 back today from COWON Germany - finally.
The whole RMA-process took exactly 2 weeks btw. (Austria/Vienna-Germany/Frankfurt-Austria/Vienna)

I also received that little rubber plug for the subpack-connector and 2 screen protectors as well and a nice little high-glossy high quality brochure about COWON 2005-products (very nice I can tell).

Well, they seem to have replaced my battery and the joystick like promised.
My firmware was the same as before (2.10b4) btw.

They confirmed all the fixed items on a kind of receipt and they also apologised for any inconvenience I had with my X5 - what a nice and very polite apology!

My X5 is just working fine for an hour now (playing some Monty Python-videos right now) but I'll inform you if anything is not working like it should.

As far as concerning me, such a perfect service is one big argument to buy the X5-successor. :bigthumbs :bigthumbs :bigthumbs

man. When i sent it back (of course it is cowon america) i didn't get any screen protectors. I sure like one, as the zCover one i have makes it seem like the screen is smaller (its already small enough!)

But i can say, the time it took was incredible I sent it on Wednesday, (thursday was thanksgiving, holiday, so was friday) and i got it back on tuesday.

From California to Washington in 2 days. Very impressed.

It's probably going to back in soon, my battery life just plunged. I wouldn't be surprised if i got 4 1/2 hours or so (i do have EQ on, but thats REALLY low). In fact, the battery meter just dropped two bars in 5 minutes once...i did discharge it fully about a week ago...man. The only thing that really kills this thing is the battery!

Get this dormant technology moving again! 150hrs+!

hmm, i wonder if we North Americans can send ours to Cowon Germany for repairs lol. Imagine the testimonials for that one on this forum

"Northern Canada>LAX>London>Munich> Frankfurt and back .... in 3 days!!! :D :D They also threw in an extra harddrive just cause they thought the delay was too long"

lol
