What operating system do you run on your main box?
I run Linux (Gentoo 2005.1).
BTW this is just to see if supporting other OS's has really helped iAudio DAP's get sales. Its just an experiment I wanted to try ;-)

Mainly windows. In the way they implemented music sync'ing (without software, the player is just a hard drive with a common filesystem) just lends itself to use across more platforms. And that feature was one of the big attractions to the player for me. So while being able to use it on other OS's is a plus, it's a side-effect of a more important feature to me.
I use Windows Vista mainly, but I dual boot into SuSe Linux 9.1 Professional.

Windows XP Media Center, because it came on my computer, and I very nearly destroyed all of my data when I tried repartitioning my hard drive to put Kubuntu on it. I'm thinking of trying again though, because Kubuntu is actually pretty easy to use compared to a decent number of other "easy" Linux distros that I tried. I guess my data isn't that important to me after all.:winker:

Vista?
Windows Longhorn. It's the official name.
Official beta is out, no? Or is that THIS summer?
Running Gentoo Linux, too - and yes, transfering audio files easily by using it as external hard drive definitely was one criteria for choosing the x5

I know what it is. I'm just amazed that someone would trust a microsoft beta.
Windows XP...I play latest and greatest games with hardware unsupported in Linux far to often to switch...I use knoppix sometimes, but not nearly as often...

I'm sorry to hear of your amazement. I ran w2k beta for years and loved every minute of it. Same with XP. I've just been to busy to get in on Vista builds yet. In 98/99 I used w2k betas and ran a couple different windowing programs, explorer, litestep, evm. Great fun.

Is Vista slow? I know the minimum requirements are pretty high like 512MB of RAM.
But, on Amd64, running the ~amd64 line.
Stage 3, if anyone's curious.
And yes, Linux support is the #1 reason I chose the X5L. Ogg/Vorbis is the #2 reason
It runs fine... took 4 hours to install, and there's almost no hardware support, so I can't use my wirelesss card, but there's some neat stuff.
Then there's my copy Longhorn 4051. Never really worked. Still, there's an inteestibng story there.
The guy I got it from installed it on one of the school computers the day before my teacher re-ghosted them, just to try it out. Unfortunately, it was put on the one that my teacher used as the master. So, after 2 class periods of ghosting, each computer had a shiny new install of Windows Longhorn. I will always remember the look on my teacher's face...
hey, what's up, I can't imagine that I'm the only mac user here around....
.... I hope not.
Nice week-end

Wouldn't most of the mac users be ipod prone?
Heh, how is Windows Vista comparable to windows longhorn? I had a very, very, very hard time getting some certain hardware support with longhorn. Is Vista any different?
Windows XP dual booting with SuSE linux Pro 9.3
I need to reinstall SuSE though, my drives wont mount and my mouse driver is broken :S
I'll proberly replace it with ubuntu 64bit edition when I get my PC upgraded.
Fedora Core 4.

Nope. Ipods have the same characteristics for Mac users as for anyone else.
Mac user here. I find ipods lacking in features, power-management, and flexibility of use. iAudio products are chocked full of features, offer choices of power supply, and for work great for both Mac OS9 and OSX (and Windoze, Linux, etc).
Thank you, Cowon. Keep up the good work! Let's have even more universality though (I still need flash player firmware upgrades that are drag-n-drop).

I use Linux 99% of the time. I use PCLinuxOS because it's easy to install, easy to keep updated, and is as near unbreakable as an operating system gets these days (at least for home/desktop use).
The other 1% Windows 98SE.
i'm usually booted into winxp on my comp (i need apps like dreamweaver and photoshop/imageready), but i boot into kubuntu whenever i can.
my scheme
Real comp----WinXP (for mainstream, and Photoshop ;) )----2 Virtual PC's---
1st VPC --- Win95 (for old games that i love )
2nd VPC --- RedHat Linux 10 (other)
I bought my X5L because of OGG and FLAC support. And every review I read agreed it sounded awesome so...
Good work, Cowon

I run Windows XP Pro SP2, and microsoft gave it to me for free!
Ofcourse i have this free :P. i have OEM pack remaded by me which self installs Directx9,TCommander,Winamp,Office and more///
Linux, currently of the Kubuntu flavour. Gentoo in the past, but it's a buttface to install.
Windows 2000 SP4 on my laptop (main system)
Windows XP Pro SP2 on my A/V-production desktop
FreeBSD 5.4 on my test system
BeOS Max and Ubuntu (formerly Gentoo, but slag[] above spoke for me, too) dual-boot on my old laptop
Palm OS 5.2.1 on my handheld.

I agree, it's a pain in the @SS to install (especially if you try it the stage 1 way), but portage is awesome, and it's really flexible.
But if you want a desktop and you want it quick, (k)ubuntu, knoppix, etc are all good choices. The whole point is to know your needs and choose from that, not to listen to the latest fashion, or the loudest fanboys ;-)
