I really wanted to get a u3 but after thinking about it, it wouldn't make any sense. Why buy the 2gb u3 for $230 when you could buy the 20gb x5l with twice as much battery power and a bigger screen for only $260. I know the u3 is smaller, but i still don't think that its size makes up for the price difference. I'm not bashing the u3, but am only asking to those who have or are going to buy the u3 why they chose it over the x5.

Got both X5 60 GB and U3 2 GB. I use X5 at the office, work and in the car. U3, I only use at the gym with the armband and clear case. X5 would get in my way with the weights.

It's just like buying a notebook computer vs a desktop. You can get more for your dollar with a desktop, but you get portability with a notebook. Bottom line, it depends on your needs.

Throw the X5 against a wall, while it's running, a few dozen times.
Now do that with the U3/U2/I5/G3.

The flash players will be scratched up, and keep on going. The HDD player will be dead, or at least permanently damaged. Flash players have no moving parts, which means they will last until you've either written to them too much, busted the controls, or busted the headphone jack.

Exactly. Capacity is not the be-all and end all. Otherwise you could do even cheaper by strapping and 80GB OEM drive into a case and rigging it up. Why stop at the x5 then?

This U3 is a superb package of size and capability. Wont skip and can with stand a drop with no problem. Well worth it IMO.
