Hi guys,
for all those are waiting for the official SW release (non Beta), in the i-Audio Korean site it's just appeared the latest SW for the amazing A2.

I hope they fixed more bugs and made alot of improvements or new features towards 1.46C.

Bye, have a nice test!:bigthumbs :jamming:

I think there is a new dithering option for video playback.

hmm, looks like the same stuff that appeared in 1.46C

the dithering option just adds a little brightness to the videos. You can notice it when you start a video and the OSD dissapears. It doesn't really help the overall quality of the videos.

have you noticed that you can now play MPEG2 files ?!
Ok it's very buggy but in the beta version it was totally impossible, and now it does play!
But it seems rather unofficial since it's not mentioned on the changelog.

piflechien,

Nice catch with the mpeg2 support. (support confirmed)

Everyone should definitly upgrade for this feature.

After upgrade to 1.49, my ASF file is working without conversion. It used to freeze A2. Great.

No ! only mpeg, mpg and dat files are shown for mpeg 1 et 2.
But if you rename a .vob file into .mpg it won't work either. It will start loading and stop at 5%

Your firmware upgrade went wrong (it happens sometimes). Just re-copy the files on the A2 and do it again.
You can check that everything is ok on the information screen. If the Hardware version doesn't match the OS version then something went wrong. Just flash the firmware again.

I just upgraded my firmware to v1.49 and immediately noticed a couple of things. When I play back a (native) 16:9 video and have my A2's aspect ratio set to "Auto," the video fills the full width of the screen (horizontally), but not the depth (vertically). In other words, there are black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. With previous firmware versions, the video would fill the entire screen.

Now, if I want the entire screen filled, I have to manually set the aspect ratio to 16:9. No big deal, but it seems like a step backward to me.

Secondly, it seems that my harddrive on the A2 makes occasional clicking noises while playing a video. I never noticed this happening with previous firmware versions.

Other than these two items, my A2 works great. :bigthumbs

PS: I have the "dithering" option set to "on," but I don't notice any difference ... except that I used to have my screen brightness set to 8, and now it is set to 7 and appears just as bright. :tongueu:

cameraz, I've also noticed that the hardrive clicks more often, and louder too.

Yes there is something new introduced with this firmware, and still present in the 1.51.
The hard drive is almost spining all the time. It doens't stop.
In radio mode the drive doesnt' stop turning like it did before. In Audio mode sometimes it stops and sometimes it turns on by itself and never stops after that.
Ok the unit is a little bit more responsive now. But how about the autonomy ?
I don't know if it's normal or not. But i'm afraid that the battery won't be able to last 15 hours ...
In video mode the drive doens't stop either once the movie has been loaded. It "might" not be that bad in video mode since the drive used to turn on et off every minute to load the video in its cache. So maybe it has been done on purpose. But i definetely don't think it's a good idea for the other modes.
What do you think ?
