View Full Version : Disconnecting A2 from USB port
As I use 'Safely remove Hardware' from WinXP to disconnect the A2 from PC. WinXP reports that the device can be safely removed. However, A2 display still shows the 'Connected' message.
Is that a firmware problem? Anyone experience this?
Both of my A2's behave the same.
Yea, happens pretty often, even on other USB devices (iRiver HP120). I just unplug it... Hell with it.
The A2 always shows the connected screen with every single PC I use.
No biggy! I remove it anyway. No harm to any files.
can live with it. Thanks.

Another question in the same vein:
Recently, I noticed that from time to time Windows XP refuses to let me "safely" disconnect my A2.
It just keeps displaying the message "unable to disconnect at this time" no matter how long I wait.
I end up just unplugging it anyway after waiting around 5 minutes.
No ill side effects so far, but does anybody else experience this? Any ideas how to avoid that problem?

Yes I often get that message as well, but I wait a few seconds and try again, at which time it will let me remove it. Im not sure what causes this. I wouldn't worry too much about it if you havent experienced any ill effects regarding your files (it doesnt bother me much).

Hmm I know, usually if it happens and I wait maybe 10 - 15 seconds, the error goes away.
But every now and then it won't go away no matter how long I wait!
I'm not really worried about it, just a little disturbed as I wonder what's causing it.
I also defragmented my A2 (after exchanging about 20GB worth of material) with PerfectDisk 7.0 and had no problem at all.
Can't really tell whether this improved the loading speed of movies/music though. Oh well.
It is because something is accessing the drive.
You can't safely remove the drive as long as just one single program has an open handle to the drive. In many cases it is because you still have the win exploerer open in one of the drives of your a2 folders.
