View Full Version : Does A2 battery have a memory?
Is it OK for me to recharge my A2's battery when it is down to one or two bars on the indicator, or should I completely exhaust the battery before recharging? If I recharge the battery when it is only half used up will it shorten my battery life?

I'm not exactly a specialist but I think for any battery it is always better to drain it completely before charging it again.
I know that this is critically important for the first few charges as you need to cycle the battery.
However, if I remember correctly the A2's battery does not show a memory effect,
so I think that after you have cycled the battery a few times you should be able to recharge it whenever you want without adverse effects.
Can anyone with more knowledge confirm this, or am I stating plain B.S. here?
Actually Li-ion batteries don't have memory effect so you can charge at any point without losing max capacity.
The problem is that as any other battery there is a limited life based on how many time you recharge the battery, so the few time you recharge the long battery life you get. (in my opinion)
http://www.batteryuniversity.com/ gives you nearly all the answers you could want about batteries and their lifespan and how best to charge them.

Excellent link, eXity!
Thanks for sharing!
To all users: ignore my first post above, I was wrong. Sorry about that!
So in fact, you SHOULD actually frequently recharge your A2, it's better to recharge it a bit all the time than to let the battery drain completely.
(since it's a Li-ion polymer battery)

Are these 2 opinions true for (Li-ion) battery?
Hi,
from the website posted above it seems I was wrong.
A Li-Ion battery to make it have a longer life should be charged more often and usually it's better before it is empty.
Should the battery still be "cycled a few times" for the first time?
And another thing, maybe this should be in a different post:
I have an AC charger for U2/U3 - USB connector (http://onlinestore.cowonamerica.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=70)
Does anybody know if it will work ok on A2? Im obviously afrraid to try it...:winker: dont wanna burn it. It's new you know :winker:
