...now. Please try later."
Have tried for 20 minutes now, still getting the same message. Transferred one Simpsons vid, took no time.
Should I carry on waiting? Or just unplug? Manual says this isn't a fault, but 20 minutes seems way too long. Windows XP SP2, X5L 20G, using docking station.
Thanks for any help.
Edit - 30 mins and counting:woh:
If you have an explorer window opened which is accessing the device, it won't disconnect. Close all windows.
If it still doesn't work, try opening an explorer window and looking into the device, and then closing it again...
This works for my DAP, which sometimes has the same problem.

Worked, thanks so much.

Have you made sure that there's no programs/windows open that are showing or using any of the files/folders on the X5? I know that if I've got mediamonkey open and it's just browsing the X5's file directory I'll be unable to "stop generic volume device"
Just an idea

Sorry - didn't realise someone else had already replied to your problem.... (the problem of using TABS and just opening up all the unread threads in advance I guess)
