Anyone know how to make the u3 recognize pic's in the Pictures folder? Mine always says "No File" but win explorer sees them

It won't show the pics because you seem like you were browsing audi/video option from the menu. To be able to see the pics, u need to browse them through Pictures from the menu. and then press the joystick in the middle to see all the pics in tree mode.

Excuse if my explanation is not very clear, but let me know agian if you find any troubles. cheers :bigthumbs

I have been watching this forum for awhile because I am getting an U3 soon. I have made a wallpaper but am not sure if it will work. I took a template from the x5 forum and put a picture in it and would like to see if it works. Instead of letting this thread become 200+ pages long, wouldnt it be better if current and new artists just edit and add new wallpapers to their existing posts? just a idea, you all do as u wish. I'll continue editing this post with my new creations

First, thank you so much for your nice work!

I just noticed that the display/audio meter should be a little pushed lower like 2 mm to fit into its right place in the U3 screen. When I used the background in my U3, it doesn't exactly fit the "graphic display/audio meter."

Actually, you don't need the alignment of boxes :P

The iAudio U3 automatically generates those boxes, so you can just post 128x160 pictures ;)

just so you don't get confused: its 160x128, 160 is length and 128 is height in pixels. i don't know why he is posting the reverse. you can also resize to 320x213, thats the size the sample iaudio pics came in, or 397x298.

I get the point you were trying to make Enoch and I'm sure neffe does too. However, I doubt your target audience does.

What Enoch was trying to get StevieBoy to see is that it is more efficient to resize the pic for the U3 and I would think it may slighly help performance when displaying it in both thumbnails and on the background. It would also waste less space in memory since the u3 can only display 160x128 and zoom in to about twice that. My pics are around 320x256 depending on the aspect ratio, except the background which is 160x128 :bigthumbs .

Also, most of the pics posted here don't exactly fit the screen dimensions so when used as wallpaper they are useless because when the U3 inserts those boxes in wallapapers, it creates not smooth uniformed looking wallpaper.

and i recommend lighter more whitish plain simple colors backgrounds so the text can be more visable/readable (ex. very light blue like the default color, or light grey).

Hi Fellow U3:ers!

Here are a bunch of U3 wallpapers that I made.
Some pics ar my own, some are borrowed (Thanx to original owernrz :notworthy )

I made the pics quite "pale" to be able to see the players text well.

Also i made an Adobe Photoshop picture with layers that can be used as some sort of template.

I'm quite picky about the wallpapers, because I want the text to be readable. That means nice contrast.

Now I switched to Dark Blue theme (+ turned off the status bars), and these works really good:

You can find a resizing option in pretty much any image editor or image viewer.

It's better to start with regular 1280x1024 wallpaper (try here (http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/index.php?sort=date&w=1280&h=1024)).

...and how do i add the template that many have (for the status bar, etc).

Frankly, I don't see the point. Everything works perfectly fine without adding any "templates".

It's better to start with regular 1280x1024 wallpaper (try here (http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/index.php?sort=date&w=1280&h=1024)).

Frankly, I don't see the point. Everything works perfectly fine without adding any "templates".

Well, i'm quite curious now, since the pictures on the cowonglobal site are all with the same menu ( the white menu, when it is playing songs ). When i have a U3 player, can i adjust the wallpaper in a way so it also changes the screen when i play the music ?? ( so i won't have that white-like screen again ). Since this is one of the reasons why i might pick a F2 instead of a U3, while i like the joystick much more then the telephone-like design of the F2.

( btw, sorry for my bad english :P )

Yes you can see the wallpaper as a background while player is in normal "just playing the music" mode.

That's how my screen looks like after selecting the "sunset" wallpaper, "dark blue" interface color and removing the status bars:

wow, that looks absolutely nice!!! I wanted to know this, since probably i will get the U3 now instead of the F2, since the U3 looks more like a normal player, and the joystick rocks :P. Also, the chance of the player being stolen is much less ;). Thnx for making the screenshot [thumbsup]

Usually such pictures are created by professional photographers. [smile]

We only find them, download them, and crop/resize them.

Plenty of free programs can do that.

Hi all,

Great wallpaper. I have downloaded a few.

Now how do I set the wallpaper? I transferred the wallpapers into the pictures folder but when I go to the wallpaper menu it says User, Default and Album Art. I consulted the U3 manual but could not find the answer.

In case anyone else has or had trouble with this, here are the instructions.

How to set the image file as a background?

Menu -> Picture ->REC button, you'll see the list of files.

Press jog button on the desired image file, then you can select Wallpaper on the pop up menu.

Someone posted a really nice wallpaper in another forum: http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/2953/sakuraet2.jpg When I saw it I couldn't help but think it seemed like a great choice for my U3.

The JPEG attached to this post is really meant for the dark blue theme. I didn't really feel like making a bunch of versions to cover no status bar and other themes. So, I've also attached the template I made for it. Just open it in Paint Shop Pro and fill in the backgrounds in the second layer with the appropriate color. (Due to forum limitations I had to use a split ZIP file. WinRAR probably is the easiest to handle it with. However, the forum required me to rename them to .zip. It should actually end with .zip.001 and .zip.002, not .001.zip and .002.zip. Just rename them and try them that way. Alternately, here is a RapidShare link (http://rapidshare.com/files/46615643/sakura-u3.pspimage.html) for the original file with no splitting, but I know that one will be dead by the time someone decides they want the file, which is why I attached it to the post.)

You may have noticed I departed from the norm a little by putting a little box where the current position text goes. Well, you may not like it, but I kind of did. Lol, I guess that's just another reason to be glad I put the template in there...

If anyone wants to do it the hard way, the main thing to do is to crop the original image to 600x480 to keep the aspect ratio intact and I also copied and pasted a bit of the image from above the text over it so that when I resized I didn't get a little white blur at the bottom right.

To finish that sentence: "unless someone wants to actually change something, in which case the JPEG is useless unless you want to add something (and even then the recompression will increase artifact levels.)" As for the layers, you can't have transparency between one part and another without it. Well, I suppose you could manually calculate every single pixel one by one yourself, but quite frankly I don't have that sort of patience. Also, I was thinking of how some people (such as yourself) don't necessarily like the extra stuff in there and might want a copy without it. In particular, that box in the middle looks nice on the music player, but not so much in the radio.

If you don't want the template, don't use it. It's there in case someone wants to change something such as the color used for the boxes. If no one wants it, no big deal, the file is smaller than 128KiB...
