I just got my X5, installed all the nessacary stuff, yet it doesnt appear in WMP as a device. I thought that WMP was compatible with this device? Is this true or am i wrong? If not, what should i do?

Are you connecting it via USB OTG port?

USB OTG is the port on the side (underneath the headphone port) If your connecting to Windows Media Player for DRM files then it's that port that you have to connect to. If your just connecting for windows to detect the device as a removeable harddrive to be able to copy music to then you can use the sub pack and the USB port at the bottom of that.

i give up. there are only three different ports on my computer, 2 in the front, one in back. i tried plugging it in all three. i do not know which of these is supposed to be the "OTG". This is going to be hell because ill have to use the peice of shit mediamonkey, it is beyond me how people appreciate this program.

The OTG port or "USB Host" port is on your X5 not your computer. Instead of hooking up the small end of the USB cable to the sub-pack connect it to the USB Host on the left-side of your player.

I believe that you have to turn the X5 on and put it in USB host mode through the main menu (accessible via holding the joystick down)

Thanks, it works now. sorry for being so obnoxious.Don't feel obnoxious! This is not intuitive and sometimes you just have to bang on folks with a hammer to get your answers!

Hi everyone, I'm a virgin-soon-to-be-newbie, my X5L 20G comes next week - can't wait....

All my music and playlists are organized on WMP10. All mp3, no wma. I have no DRMs, just ripped CDs and a lot of, er, totally legal others.....:winker:

Will I be able to transfer to the player by the same method described in this thread? And can I synch with the X5 - WMP10 - Microsoft Synchtoy combo? Or any other synch tool? I'm mainly organized by playlists, which I change frequently, and albums. Not genre.

Thanks for any help. Read the whole site (awesome, btw, and very persuasive!) and the newbie FAQ, but sorry if I've missed it somehow.
