I have 2 questions about video on the iAudio x5. The first is can this device direct encode video files? I am fairly sure that it cannot, but on some sites it is mentioned that it can record from dvd players and tv's.

My second question is for people who own this. I read in a review that the video is extremely difficult to get to work on this device. Is this true? Exactly how difficult is it?

1. No. If they mention it can record, they're referring to audio portion only.

2. Are you referring to the creation/re-encoding process that results in a video file that the X5 can play? No, it's not that difficult. There is even a 'sticky' thread on the X5 forum that explains exactly how to do it, using ireveter, the jetaudio software, or even VirtualDub (which I personally use). It may appear difficult the first time around, but once you get a hang of it, no problem.
