View Full Version : U2 arrived today - first impression

High,

I just got my U2 and the sound is absolutely excellent. Just excellent.

Everyone around me has the Ipod and I could'nt listen to it longer than

15 minutes, after that it started to be a pain in my ears.

(The sound is cold, metallic, and very very flat)


Before I was hearing the U2 first time I was a bit afraid, if the sound

is really that good, cause I am very very delicate when it comes to this.

But when I pressed play I was just BLOWN away.

It's incredible!


I have 2 questions for people who are used to this gear:


1. When I connect the U2 with the USB port than there is no

CHARGING display as it is shown in the manual.

Only the READY display appears.

2. I couldn't succeed to play the FM part.

When I am in the FM-Radio menu, I can only change Mono-stereo etc,

but when I press play or forward, I am back on the Mp3 again.


Does anyone know how it works?

Oh, and I also have no clue what to do to wear the u2 as necklace.

There is nothing shown in the menu.



But again, I HAVE to say it again.

The sound is BRILLIANT!!!!

To get into "radio mode," you need to press the Mode section on the Menu, then the FM Radio. The FM Radio listed directly under the menu is only to tamper with the settings.

So, go to Menu -> Mode! There you should be able to switch from MP3, Voice Recorder, Line-In and Radio.

The "charging display" is only the small outline of a "plug" to the right of the ready display , it is solid , and goes clear when the unit has a full charge. It is not very big, and is easy to miss.

Oh and glad you like the unit :)!

I am totally satisfied with my purchase,

I totally love the U2. It's an amazing gear!

Just sometimes I hear clicks when I play mp3,

but that might be due to the mp3 quality or the firmware...

But apart from that, I again and again blown away when I press play :)

I hear clicks to sometimes, specially when I have mp3 enhance turned on, VERY ANNOYING i dislike the slightest bit of imperfect playback :(

hope this will be fixed (although i hear less 'clicks' with the newer firmware)

Hmm...interesting. I sometimes hear clicks on my computer too. On the U2, it could be the firmware, but I could also be the mp3 file itself. But we don't like blaming our MP3 files, do we ;)

Wellwell, nothings is perfect...

And nearly all new complex technical things have bugs in the first generation. I also dislike nonperfect playback and one reason that I chose iaudio was the brilliant sound. But I can live with it as long as I know it's just a firmware problem that will be fixed soon...hopefully...


But one thing I don't get:
I can turn the lyrics mode on and off - absolutely no difference.
I heared about 100 songs now, and with NO song I could see lyrics...

you have to add the lyrics files to the mp3 file you want with the LDB Manager.

LDB Manager? Add lyrics to mp3?

No clue how to do this. Haven't read anything about that in the manual...

Does this need more space when you add lyrics???

this program only adds the lyrics to the id3 tag..so it doesnt need more space..

Strange, it didn't work on one out of 200 songs!

Also when I start the program, it shows this stupid error code:

>Cannt connect the license server, please check internet connection.<

(My internet connection is fine...)

Is it correct that I just have to mark the audio files and the

manager is searching and adding the lyrics?

Does anyone know a differend way with a different software?

No, the clicks just appear during playback, starts to get annoying sometimes.

It also can be that it jumps from one track to another...

Where can I get new bugfree firmware?

It worked!!!

Man, I am getting more and more impressed by this gear,
it's sooooooo awesome!

Especially when listened to electro-music.

And the clicks I heared occur allways on the same part of the song,

so I am pretty sure that the Mp3 files are not 100% ok.

Man, I am so IN LOVE with this player...
