Cowon! Give me some more news on the M5, or else I'll buy an Iriver H340 for Christmas! I know you don't want that to happen! By the way, happy Christma-Hanu-Kwanza-kah, everybody.

Hey hey hey iAudio already blessed us with the M3s. You have your choices of the M3 (Slim), M3L (Long Battery Life), or the M3 40GB (Lots of space). Now what's the problem? Just get a M3 and you'll be happy until the M5 comes out. Then you can sell the M3 if you really want to get the M5.

The M3 is great, and I love the thing. The problem is, it can only be operated with the in line remote, and I plan to use a headphone amplifier. Going from the M3 to the remote to the amp to the headphones would simply be too hectic, so I don't have much of a choice but to wait for the M5 with the controls directly on the device itself. If it weren't for me wanting the amp, I would have gotten a Metallic Brown M3 40gb a long, long time ago. I will also admit that I am a whore for the color screen, photoshop or not.
why dont you use that little bottom attachment thing with the line out... this is what i mean:
_ REMOTE
m3 - _ ATTACHMENT THING - LINE OUT - AMP - HEADPHONES
then stick the m3 in your bag, and have the remote poking out and a wire from your headphones to your bag, ive used this setup before and for me it wasnt too bad. it would be annoying attaching an amp between your remote and headphones.
you will get better result from amping the lineout anyway.
what headphones are you using? as long as their cable is long enough (to go into yourbag while theyre on your head) you should have no problem

That's a good idea, but that expansion pack thing will detract from the overall look of the M3. I also don't want to drop my backpack or something and have the pack interface breaking off inside the M3. For headphones I use *looks at avatar :)* Bang & Olufsen A8s. The cable is a little short, but they came with a six foot extension for stationary equipment, so I'll be ok. Thank you for your insight, both sumguy_ and Lsportline43.
I have never really seen the need for these headphone amps?
What's the benefit? Please don't say it's louder !!!
some headphones are benefitted greatly by an amp, more clarity, more or better bass etc.....
for the b&o's though i would reconsider the amp CleanPauper as they are efficient portable headphones by design, you wont get much improvement sonically... well at least my general knowledge would suggest that, i dont have experience with them
It really depends on the headphones, and their resistance/sensitivity, etc. Amps will greatly improve the sound quality of headphones that are hard to drive because they have a higher resistance. Good amps are able to imporve balance all across the spectrum of sound, not just bass, and can really change the intial sound of an headphone.

Out of complete guess I would say you will be waiting for atleast another 3 months for the release of the iAudio M5.
