Hi all,
I am starting this new thread with a hope to have all kinds of comments about A2 from its current owners. Most of them like me are located in the eastern or south eastern part of Asia. I hope this will help the a2 fans, who are waiting in the american and european continents,to get the feel of what real owners do.

As far as me, here are my comments.

LOOK & FEEL : very elegant and luxurious looks with highly glossy surface finish prone to get finger prints so easily that I feel like wiping it all the time.

DESIGN & BUILT : Nicely placed control buttons as U already saw with long horizontal button blending well in harmony with the wide beautifull screen. Feels very solid in hand with that little extra weight. The buttons and the joy stick are a bit hard though. I have to always press them firmly with the extra force which is unlikely to my other gadgets. But its no problem as it also protect from accidental pressing of buttons, and a matter of getting used to plus it will always give me a good feeling of solid built of the player.

PROTECTION : The leather case supplied in the box is great !! Its tough and hard enough to protect the screen. Its innovatively designed just like those of
little mp3 playes providing acess to all ports and connectors and with a window for viewing the screen without taking out the player. Plus I can also use its opening flap as a stand support by folding it backwards, and in any angle i want.

PERFORMANCE & USE : I dont have the english manual as it has'nt been released yet so I am just left with the option of basic functions. But nevertheless whatever I played on it is absolutely marvellous. believe me if you havent expereinced the wide screen video on such a device u will be compeletly blown away with excitement while watching any video stuff that covers the whole screen. The screen very bright and sparkling clean.

I dont know why but I felt it more comfertable to watch any video or movie on this than my IBM notebook because of the glass on the LCD. As you kow IBMs dont put any glass on top of their LCDs. The colours are absolutely perfect and stunning.

Sound is great. I havent used any Iaudio before but know I believe why people praise it so much. I have an Iriver and that sounds fantastic too.
But I feel that this BBE thing makes highly noticable difference in making the all sounds very clear and easily heared and so pleasant. There are many sound choices from JET Effect. I havent tried much of them cos I dont want to make a bad impression by using them in a wrong way. I would rather wait for the manuals which is about to be released shortly.

There was frame lagging before in videos but it got fixed after i upgraded with firmware V1.31.

Things that surprided me
- USB host doesnt connect it to my canon IXUS 40. I think I should try USB
drive too.
- It doesnt play the AVI video files from the same camera. It says "not
supported codec".

Some people say that its slow in response. What I feel is that one button has many functions in a particular mode depending upon how long we press the button. But this will confirmed by the manual.

Now only thing I need is the complete manual before I say anything further.

looking forward to hear from other owners...:coolio:

Can it play txt file or photo while playing music at the same time? I heard that its unable to do this but hopefully this can be done by firmware upgrade.

Thanks variozin.

I havent explored any feature of playing music while browsing yet coz of absence of manual, so I cant say about that.

No I dont think so that the screen could get scratches very easily and once the player is in the case it even elminates such chances. Resr depeneds how you handle it. "Touch wood" mine is safe. And I am sure everyone will handle a 500$ thing with care.

.................

iaudio manual explains the lagging in response is due to the built-in power-savin' feature of A2 -- i.e. once LCD screen dims out, the response of the buttons lag behind too. However, once the LCD screen comes back on again, the response backs to normal.

Just need time to get used to this power-saving feature, but if this feature does lead to longer usage of power, it's worth the trouble there, i think ...:coolio:

can read txt file while playing music, but cannot watch photo or photo slideshow while playing music....Hope iaudio would fix that in future firmware updates.

Thanks variozin.

there's already a pre-pasted plastic film over on the LCD screen, so already protection scratch, kinda...If any owner wants a better cover, they can...

Can anyone just tell me how to retrieve book marks in the videos. I find it frustrating to always to fast forward the movie to the position where i left it last time.

bookmark automatically added to "Recent file" (=A button) at the Main Screen, when you exit the Movie Function.

Or you can manually add bookmark to the PlayList by pressing Button A during Movie Function. Not sure how to retrieve the PlayList but I seem never need to usd PL, where I can retrieve Video file by the "Recent File" function.

This retrieving is most useful as I neednt watch fast-forward to the last scene that I saw last time -- fiddle with it & I think you'll get a hand of it soon
