Please don't see this as an another annoying thread. I already followed the steps on using Iriverter to convert video files. But still, my videos still can't be played on the X5! Some files are just skipped and some have black and white color and VERY choppy framerates.

This problem has been solved when I use JetaudioVX but I'm still eager to use Iriverter. So can anyone enlighten me? Am I missing something?

Oh btw, my files are mpeg files (most downloaded of bittorrents)

But even ones ripped right of a vcd has the same problem

The most likely reason probably is that something is up with the MPlayer mencoder (maybe it couldn't find a codec) - you could try it manually (mencoder) with my instructions and see if you get any meaningful messages.

I also note there is a problem with 0.14 on XP. "Workaround for iriverter 0.14 on Windows XP" at http://iriverter.sourceforge.net/ - try that as well.

Cheers.

Look at my note on Converting AVIs in Linux. There's a section on using mencoder - a command line utility. Also look on the Internet for further information on MPlayer/mencoder. iRiverter is really a front-end for mencoder but mencoder does all the actaully decode/encode so if anything is going wrong, mencoder's direct screen output at the command line should tell you something.

Sorry, it was a Halloween party last night and I am nursing a hangover so I hope that makes sense.
