Hi all,
I'm in the market for an m5... I know this is the wrong forum, but I think they are similar enough to have the same feature set in flac playback. My question is this: does the x5 support embedded cuesheets? All my music is in flac with embedded cuesheets at compression level 8. I know, I'm obsessive compulsive. Can someone do a test for me? More than the track title and stuff, just the seeking to the next track. If someone needs a flac file with embedded cuesheet to do the test, I can supply. Thanks.

I don't know of any player supporting cuesheets. Cuesheets are for burning an exact copy of an audio CD, not for listening, if I'm not mistaken.
The only thing that cuesheets do is making the counter of a CD-player show the minus-count in the gap before a track starts, right?

I'm talking about embedded cuesheets, that make track marks in long flac files. This way, in a real audio player such as foobar2000, it sees these track marks and can search to them directly. It makes for easy music management when you have lots of flacced cds on your hard drive.

I have a sample flac... it is 10 seconds long, artist is "Test Tones", two tracks, one 5 seconds long of 440 hz, and the second is 5 seconds long of 880 hz. Could someone test this in their player to see if it can seek to the next track? It has an embedded cuesheet that opens fine in foobar2000. Lets hope it works in the x5. Thanks guys.

hello? Is this thing on? Can someone please test the file for me? It's just a 10sec long test. If all works out smoothly, it should show 2 5sec tracks. Thanks again.

No, it's not working.

Do cue-sheets work on any software-player except Foobar2000? I always thought this is only for burning real CDs... but with a configuration-monster like Foobar you never know. :)

(I tried your test-tone with Foobar, and it worked fine.)

arrgh. I hope someone will come out with a player that supports the many features of flac. I guess cuesheets aren't really too far out there. Burrrn will open a flac file and parse the cuesheet for an exact copy. I'm not really sure what other software supports embedded cues. oh well.

The x5 just played 10sec straight? Thanks for testing. My friend got his friend with an m3 to try it, didn't work either. I was hoping the x5 would be smarter.

Yep, it played the 10 seconds as one file.
