Hi guys
I hope I didn't miss a thread on this, but I did forum search quite a lot of times, so I'm writing a new thread on it:

When I play a .flac file in my X5L it won't show me playback time neither let me search through the file (FF/RW). It also doesn't show the Tags.

and uhm, is there a possibility to integrate mpc-playback in further firmware-versions? Would be really great!

Thanks for your work, Cowon

MPC would not be much value added. Plus I think Phillips would have a little something to say about the matter. It's one thing to have mpcs on your computer, but to sell a device that plays them, they might pay more attention to.

Just thought it'd be nice, because at the beginning of my Digital Audio times I ripped severall albums accidentally to .mpc instead of mp3 (sounds soooo simliar :) ). Now I don't know if I'm willing to take all the conversion business or just delete and rip again, which would make me have to search through my CD Hill that's laying around in my room :(

But what'd be really important to me is a better implementation of that flac-playbackthingie, since it was for flac-playback that I decided to buy the X5L (ok, not only for flac :) )

PS: Why should philips mind Cowon putting mpc-playback on the iAudio? At least I was able to download the playback-plugin for Winamp for free... Normally this wouldn't be possible with proprietairy codecs, would it?

No, that would be a lot of value added. The X5 would be the only hardware player in the world to support Musepack MPC.

Don't get me wrong: I hate that utterly incompatible format (like I hate APE), but unfortunately I have some albums in MPC format which I can't get in any other format ever... So it'd be nice to have MPC support on the otherwise most formats supporting player already.

And, by the way: what has Philips to do with MPC???

http://www.musepack.net/index.php?pg=gen Musepack was created by Andree Buschmann (mirror) and is currently developed by Frank Klemm (mirror) (archival sites) and the Musepack Development Team.

MP2 technology is patented, and MPC may or may not use it, there's some debate. It's actually not really known for sure. That is one reason why a hardware maker would choose to not support it, unlike Ogg Vorbis whiich is utterly patent free.

Hey guys I still got this problem with FLAC playback
apparently MPC is more interesting, but whenever I play FLAC it will play the file, without the cursor to move, the playtime (no matter whether elapsed or remaining) won't be displayed and I'm not able to search through the file. Actually it seems that the X5 really does support playback, but nothing else..
Anyone got the same issue?
