Just wondering if anybody has tried both canalphones (Sony MDR-EX71 or Ety ER-6i ) with their X5.

Is there a significant difference in sound quality between these two canalphones?

Thanks in advance!

well i tried the Sony's and they are pretty muddy (too much bass).

I hear the the Ety's are pretty good, but their are better out their. They have very thin cords too. (both)

Which are the best earbud headphones out there for less than $50?

not tried ety's, but EX71's are too bass heavy, and the highs aren't there

Also they have ____ build quality. Google. Is always the right channel driver that goes, for some reason. I'm on my 2nd + last pair

Panasonic RP-HJE50 - google, or try search head-fi forums, for various ramblings on why these are best budget canaphones, along with Sharp MD33

Well, the Sony's are nothing more than a bad joke. Worst IEMs I ever tried.

The Etymotics do not have any bass at all, unfortunately, but they are very good/realistic earphones otherwise. Even the model with "enhanced bass" doesn't have any bass...

If you're going for bass, get the UE Super.Fi 5EB or 5Pro, or the Shure E5.

I have the regular ER-6's (in black). They have superb isolation and crystal clear sound, but they lack in bass...which is bad for me because I'm a basshead. Just my $.02.

Hi everyone, I'm new around here.
I just got my X5L a few days ago. I been using with my Ety ER6is for a few days now.
At first, I didn't like the combination, it seemed a bit too harsh for my ears.
So then I tried to mess around with the EQ to add more bass and midrange - and it worked OK.
Finally I ditched the MP3s and listened to some OGG files - this sounded much better across the whole range.
I'm glad I bought the X5 because it plays ogg, the difference to me is huge.

So I can recommended the 6is as long as your source files are good.
You should be OK with the Er6is, they have a nice detailed sound and you alter the EQ settings to make them sound right for your ears (adding more bass or whatever). They are available at a reasonable price now. I bought mine about a year ago and they are still sounding great.
