I have had my X5 for over a month now and never experienced any problems, until today...
Before going to college I turned on my X5 and it showed the startup screen, this took 2-3 minutes instead of the few seconds, then no startup movie, after that it said 'No file'. So I searched for my music and movies folders: both gone! So I linked the X5 with my pc, still no music or movies (only the folders 'Music' and 'Movie').
I haven't misused it in any way: I never dropped the player, I always properly disconnect it, I didnt reset the player...
Anyone else experienced this problem? And what do you guys think I should do? Immidiatly return the player, or try re-install the firmware?

What was the last thing you did with the X5 prior to this? Were you using it with your computer? Do you use any kind of sync'ing software? How much free space is it showing? Have you tried just copying your music back over to it?

In any event, resetting the player all by itself wouldn't cause any files to be deleted, and I've been using the new firmware for awhile and never had that problem.

I remember I used the USB Host option to delete some files from my player. Very strange, it says it has 4,6 Gb of free space, but there are no files to display/play. Not even in the 'Firmware' or 'System' folder :s
I have tried to put music back on it, I copied 1 mp3file, and it works and also plays... But all the other files don't.
Starting the player up still takes a lot longer then before...
I use firmware version 2.10 b4-k.

There are now some weird files in the main folder (cant remember I had them before): 'r...', 'X5DB v1..0' and 'V'.

I think you should either try formatting the player and recopying your music, or seeing whether your files may have become hidden.

I had this problem once when I'd just put music onto my X5 using USB host. It didn't recognize them until I'd connected the X5 to the PC once first. It was weird and worrisome, but ultimately seemed to work out.

BTW, startup will always take longer immediately after you've connected to a PC or otherwise altered the contents of the hard drive.

I formatted the player and put all my music back on it. It works fine now. The only problem is that the intro movie is removed.
I tried to download a new logo file on it with jetshell, but every time I try this jetshell says the player isn't connected (when it obviously is).
But this isn't the biggest problem :)

Thanks for your help doniago!
