Compared to programs like EAC (Exact Audio Copy) and CDex, how is JetAudio's ripping quality?
I figured that since I was getting it for free with my IAudio that I might as well use it if it was a pretty good program.
Not great compared to EAC and Cdex.
I'm kind of a neophyte at this... If I want to rip to FLAC, what exactly do I have to do? Do EAC and Cdex have built in encoders? Or do I have to rip to WAV and then go to FLAC....

Get EAC set up from this guide:
http://www.chrismyden.com/bestmp3guide.php
Install FLAC. Tell EAC to use a user defined encoder, with a ".flac" extension, point it to FLAC, and give an argument string like this:
-T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%g" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%n" -T "genre=%m" -8 %s
-8 is the maximum preset compression level, and is still fast.

However, the X5 only reads compression levels 0, 1, or 2
Edit: actually, I might be wrong. Maybe the X5 does support up to compression level 8 now. Could someone please post back on this issue?
You are wrong ;)
Since firmware 2.03, the X5 can handle level 8 FLAC.

I followed your EAC - FLAC conversion advice works great!
Butt...[cursing]
Just for the heck of it I used EAC via LAME 3.90.3 to also convert CD into mp3 VBR. Plays great on my computer, Neuros mp3 player, & chinese junk players but has a wicked "Buzz" on ONLY the A2!!! I mean LOUD! The buzz is about a third of the whole output level.
So, I tried mp3 VBR encoding using Winamp 5 to see if the problem goes away. Same damn thing!
I have the latest V1.77firmware loaded on the A2.
I've had this A2 for a week now & this is the 1st problem with anything I've tried so far.
Any ideas guys?
TIA

All my MP3 have been ripped with EAC and LAME are VBR 192 kps. I also have firmware 1.77 with no issues what so ever! My audio sounds great, I use the following equalization on my A2; ROCK, BBE5, M3B 3, MPE ON, 3Ds 5.
Possibly try equalizer adjustment, delete and recopy the tracks, reburn your firmware..... just a few ideas.
