View Full Version : Best sub-$100 headphones from Audiocubes...
I say Audiocubes because they offer the best shipping imo to Canada...don't have to worry about getting dinged by couriers for duties etc...
How do you guys feel about Audio TEchnica headphones? (namely ATH-FC7)
most of my music is rock/punk/hiphop
Audiocubes isn't what I could call value for money. They sell for a hefty mark-up over the suggested retail price in Japan. The FC7 looks nice but is nothing to write home about in terms of sound... personally I think you're better off with the Sennheiser PX100 or the Koss KSC-75/35. Both of these are comparable phones for much less.
thanks for the heads up!
PX100 vs. PX200...is the 200 worth the little bit extra?
also do the prices for the PX100/200 deviate from their MSRP?
The PX100 is better in terms of sound, but if you're travelling in noisy places you won't be able to hear much. The PX200 is closed and blocks out a bit of outside noise, and doesn't leak sound. It does sound more muffled though. The Koss's are open as well. The FC7 is also effectively open.
Another phone which I personally dislike but many people seem to like is the AKG K26P which is as closed as the PX200 and IMHO sounds considerably worse. But as I've noticed, many people don't seem to actually care for sound quality, just the amount of pumping bass a headphone'll generate... and the K26P certainly delivers on the bass. It's an option to look into anyway. Price is about the same as the PX200.
The PX100/200, K26P are all pretty widely distributed headphones. You should be able to spot them below MSRP in almost any country. I don't live in Canada so unfortunately can't help.
thanks for the help!
i'm wondering if I should hold off, my dad is going to Hong Kong in the next little while here, would it be wise it get him to pick me something up?
I did in fact look at some .jp for prices of their Audio Technica stuff and it was generally 15-20 USD more.
