Sometimes my U2 will skip on some songs. Not often but sometimes. Does anyone get this? Would firmware upgrade fix this?

I have not experienced this at all. Running Firmware 1.35e
I just got mine, firmware 1.4e. I noticed that occasionally a song will have a little skip in it. Thought maybe it was my encoding, but if you have this problem, too, maybe not...?

I wonder if it's firmware or hardware related. I'm on 1.35.

Ok an update on this. I notice that it mostly happens when I turn the volume way up. Could very high frequencies be the cause of something like this for a flash player this small?

Is it during the actual volume change (if so, I don't think you can do anything)?

No it's once it is at high volume. Not during.

I get this too. I think it is related to specific file types. If I download a song from napster to my pc and then put it on the U2 I can't get some songs to play. If I drop them straight from napster onto the U2 the file will play. don't know what it's about.

Ok nevermind this entire thread. The problem I had was that the crappy ear buds that came with the player were giving out. Tried some new ones on a whim and the player works flawlessly. Now I feel foolish. :D

so then what was sideways talking about? I've personally never experienced skipping with my u2 unless I ripped a bad file or had some defected ear-buds.

I agree with Dadship12, likely bad music files causing the skip or perhaps OGG format? I've heard that OGG files don't always play very well.
