Hello All,

After a recommendation from a fellow iAUDIOphile, skulkk, I purchased a Lowepro D-Res 4 Case for my M3L.

Here is what I think:
The case is a perfect fit for the M3L or the 40GB. It is a little larger than I would like for my pocket but it makes me feel a lot better when I stick it in my bag. There are stiff inserts in the top and bottom much like the ones in the case that ships with the player. The velcro belt loop is very secure. I never put my player on a belt but it would work well to attach to anything of that sort.

I will be cutting out all the extra pockets inside the case to make a little more room. I think it should work well for a M3 as well.

I will let these photos speak for themselves:

Wow the case looks like it really would protect the iAudio M3L if it were to drop. It looks to be a worthy investment to keep the iAudio safe.

Since there isn't any ventilation does the iAudio M3L get any hotter beacuse of this? During operation that is.

What is the case really made for?

How much and where can I find one?

It was originally designed for memory cards and batteris. But it seems that it serves other purposes too :)

Very interesting. Maybe I'll buy one too. Although It's not a very pretty solution imo.
And I don't think that heat is a problem.

I agree that the looks aren't too great, but if the iAudio were to drop I think the case would really help. The case isn't expensive either. I searched online and found the price to be around $12-$15. Not too bad to keep a $300+ MP3 player safe.

Are there any different kinds of Lowepro D-Res 4 Cases? Such as different generations or various colors? I am wonder because I want to see if it's possible to get them in different colors or different designs.

I am planning to order my iAudio M3L within the next week, so I just went ahead and bought a Lowepro D-Res 4 off of eBay. From the looks of it the fit is perfect. The orginal case doesn't seem to be that great and this case seemed perfect. Anyhow I bought it for about $10. Great price! Thanks for the great photos too!!

Great investment imho. I bought a Case Logic myself, can't recall the reference but that which is said to be a "perfect fit for the iPod". Well, if it is for the iPod, it ain't for the M3: the remote connection (imho the main drawback on the M3 design) prevents the case from closing all the way.

Shame because it looks better than the Lowepro, was fairly cheap (less than 10 €), and is provided with a large and comfy armband.

Hmm never saw that Case Logic Case. Would of thought twice if I had seen it. Oh well I have the Lowepro now, so it's too late. From the photos up top it looks like the Lowepro will be just fine for me.

Can you fit the sub Pack in there as well? That would be great if it makes carrying the pack around easier.

For information, the Case Logic I mentionned earlier is this: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=3182494

Thanks for the link HeartofDarkness. I may buy one of these too! That's if I am not totally happy with the Lowepro. These cases aren't too expensive. Hopefully there will be a leather case for the M3s sometime.

bluez, I don't think the subpack will fit in the Lowepro D-Res 4 Case. Though it may fit in the Case Logic Case that HeartofDarkness has a link to. So HeartofDarkness could the Case Logic Case carry the subpack?

I'll see about that tonight. :-)
But please remember that it does not close completly because of the remote attachement.

Yeah I was looking at the picture of the Case Logic and noticed that. You see how the Lowepro one closes almost all the way? The not the how it works with the Case Logic right?

I got the case today. Didn't even order the iAudio M3L yet, but I will this week. With the case in my hands I can't believe the iAudio M3L will fit in there. That is one small iAudio! Can't wait until I can get to using the case for what I meant to buy it for.

I'm really interested into the Lowepro D-Res 4, I want to use it to protect my M3 when I'm not using it. I would like to know if the remote fits in the case ?

Thanks alot

EDIT:

OK I've just read a thread in this forum about the Lowepro D-Res 4 and I can't put the remote in the case :( Oh well, there is still another interesting case, the MPC3 from Case Logic

I'm just wondering...What's wrong with the case that comes with the M3? Why does everyone want a new case? It looks nice to me (I haven't bought an M3 yet, but I will be getting the 40gig sometime this month, I'm waiting to see if the release of the M5 will drop the price of the M3).

The case isn't as protective as the aftermarket cases that are available. That's why I bought the Lowepro D-Res 4.
