View Full Version : [problem] new update !!!
hello =)
i tried today to update my brand new D3. i bought it this morning, my first reflex, was to update it..and now, i regret it !! :D
i live in france, so my firmware is the european one : .V2.53(EU)
I followed the instructions, but i have the following error message during the installing firmware (3/4)
error occured while downloading firmware (error code :0017)
the probleme is, now, my D3 is "blank", with nothing on it, so i can't do anything. the only thing i got is "plenus" !! :p
i tried at home, at work, with Windows XP and Seven, always the same problem.
do you guy have any idea?
thank you a lot!!
That's strange, maybe it is due to a dodgy connection. If you used USB ports on front panel, try to reflash it by connecting it on the (motherboard) rear ports.
I encountered a crash once while upgrading to 1.52, but without consequences.
You can also try to recover firmware with FWDN instead

Check your manual for how to enter Recoverey mode (different from pinhole re-set). Once you complete recovery mode, the device shouold be back to a normal screen and functionality, at which point you can try the update again.

Get the 3.53 one or reinstall the 2.53. The 3.53 doesn't have the audio limiter. Remember to hold the both volume button down before plugging in the USB.
Thank you all !
I tried several Options :
=/= computer
=/= OS
=/= Firmware (non-EUR/US/European)
=/= USB
nothing is working, it's like the D3 doesn't want to boot, or load.. just freezing on "plenus".
so, i tried your last option
http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=39416
But... i had this "awful" :D error message... :
write BOOT - START
write BOOT - Complete!
"MTD" AREA Write - Start!
[ERROR] Fwfn response is Nacked!
[ERROR] CFwdnPort::AREA_WriteRsp:FWDN response parameter failure
[ERROR]CFwdnPort::AREA_WriteDiskImage: Disk Image Write Response Failure (port=0)
[ERROR]"MTD" Area Write Failure (d:\....)
it's sad, because it's a brand new cowon, and if I send it to the support, i'm not gonna see it until 2 months :/ (like my old J3, i think i have bad vibes [laugh])
Again, thank you, but the final solution, is to send my lovely D3 to the support!

You're doing it wrong. What do you mean it it freezes on plenus? If hold both volume buttons and plug it in it doesn't boot up and display plenus it should be a blank screen. You have to use the firmware update to detect the D3.[confused]

sorry, i made a mistake : plenue, not plenus [laugh]
I launched the D3 software update, hold both buttons, and plug it, but at step 2, my D3 boot up, and "plenue" appears. Half of step 3, during the installation, the error appears.
even if i want to launch the recovery mode, it's the same thing... only the pleanue screen. that's it :/ (and i can't shut it off, i have to "reset" it).
thank again =)

And were you able to get it into recovery mode? If the unit is currently non-functional, try that first, then re-load the firmware.
Edit - looks like you posted that Recovery Mode didn't work for you about the same time I posted this. Sorry to hear that - may be time to make a return.
_____________________
When the D3 shows following severe symptoms,
use its recovery mode to restore the device.
- When it fails to conduct system updates.
- When it needs to reinstall a current firmware on the device to solve
system errors.
*
It is recommended to try ‘Power on/off’ or ‘Reset’ before using the recovery mode.
This mode is the last measure to deal with critical problems.
How to use recovery mode
1. Turn on the device while pressing the Play / Pause button.
2. As the right image shows, the Play / Pause button needs to
be pressed until the device enters the recovery mode.
3. From the step number 2, press the home button and check
whether the following 4 menus show up on the screen.
Use the Volume(+/−) buttons to select the menu and run
the selected menu by pressing the Play / Pause button.
1 reboot system now Finish ‘recovery mode’ and reboots the device.
2 apply sdcard:update.zip Start updating with ‘/sdcard/sd/update.zip’ on the SD card.
3 apply nand:update.zip Start updating with ‘/sdcard/update.zip’ on the NAND.
4 re-install current version
When using ‘OTA package’, back up update.zip file to the internal
storage after completing updates. This menu starts updating by using
a previously backed-up file.
*
If there’s no file while starting the menu number 2, 3, 4, error messages will show up and will not start installation.
4. When using the menu number 3, the same menu will show up again after finishing
installation. Then select ‘reboot system now’, and check the updated firmware version.

Thank you all, for your answers.
unfortunately, i gave back my D3 to my local store, they didn't have one in exchange, so i get my money back...
