X7 - MSC vs MTP

I'm a new owner of an X7, very pleased with it, particularly after adding Lynx, Leaf and Sense. I've got it in MSC mode, and have transferred music files over directly from my Linux box and my MacBook. Very happy not to be using iTunes.

I understand that to scrobble music I can use QTscrobbler and that the X7 has to be in MTP mode. I also see where to change from MSC to MTP.

My question is - does switching from MSC to MTP (and vice versa) affect the music files and how they're used by the X7? I wouldn't want to have to do the download all over again, as it took several hours!

On the S9 and J3 it doesn't remove/change any files, at least nothing important. I think I've read somewhere that playlists transferred via MTP stop working when you switch to MSC, but that's all.
It should be the same on the X7.

Thanks Kizune. I'll give that a try. I was worried it might lose the album art which is embedded in the files.
