How know if the D3 is in sleep mode? Is it normal to lose 40% of battery level in 6hours?

Turn off WiFi and bluetooth before you turn off the screen for better battery endurance.

Mine often doesn't like to sleep if the music app is running. I have to close it with the task manager. I also had problems if I had an alarm set in the "clock" app.

Also, If you have the new beta firmware, it has a problem where the "kakaotalk" and "cowon t-message" apps will often wake it from sleep. You can tell if this happens because the screen will turn back on after being asleep for about 20 seconds.

When the D3 is in sleep mode, pressing the play button will not do anything. If it's faking and the screen is just off, it will start playing music.

It loses about 1% per hour if it is actually sleeping.

I do use the alarm function so maybe that's why? I'll have to turn it off during the day then. Does inactive count as running?

Maybe. I assume inactive is fine, but I don't know because I quit using it when I noticed the problem.

The buttons turn the Music apps on. Does that mean it's not in sleep mode? There's a block sleep mode in playback screen option. It's unchecked. Just to be sure I doing the sleep thing right. You go into sleep mode by double pressing the hold button anywhere other than in the music and radio app, right?[confused]

Right, and you'll need to use the task manager app to exit "music" before putting it to sleep.

Do you have to wait a while for it to go into sleep mode? Because I did that and press the play to make sure it's in sleep mode but it just starts up the music again. Am I doing something wrong? or is it normal for button to wake the player up? I'm using firmware 2.33.
In firmware 1.52 did they add a sleep state widget? Does firmware upgrade speeds up pdf apps too or just the cowon ones? Also is the Cowon home 2d a newer version? It's v.7 on the 2.33.

Shouldn't have to wait, if it's asleep the music won't play. Maybe since you turned off the alarms you should restart it.

No, they added a button in the notification area that does the same thing as double pressing hold.

It speeds up pretty much everything, including the mobile pdf app I use. However, the sleep issue is worse with the new firmware because of 2 new apps that wake it up.

Cowon Home 2D says version 2.3.3, it looks and works exactly the same, but quicker.

Hopefully they fix it in the final. It seems the restart didn't do anything. The media button still starts the music app back up. Maybe that was one of the thing half fixed in the beta. I guess I'm gonna have to disable those buttons. The beta release says you can search media files now. How well does that work? What kind of PDF reader do you use?

Only if your hitting them by accident or something, they don't prevent it from sleeping. They just make a good test to see if it's asleep.

It works great! When you are looking at the list of songs/albums/etc. hit the menu button then hit search. You get a very google-like search where it searches as you type, and it is very fast. It automatically finds songs, albums, and artists. It works the same way for videos, and is just as fast, but in videos it makes you stay in landscape mode which isn't a big deal, but you don't see as many results per page.

I'm using "mobilepdfviewer". It's the only one I've tried and I'm not sure I recommend it. It likes to put spaces between double letters. For example, it displays the word "difference" as "dif ference".

Have you tried that on the x.33firmware? It's a test my player is failing all the time.

That's great to hear looking forward to the final FW.

I'm using the adobe pdf reader. It's pretty quick. It lack bookmarking and Zooming is kinda slow. Maybe 2.3 will solve the problem. Try it it's free.

Yep, mine went to sleep and the play button wouldn't wake it on 3.33. Dunno what's keeping yours awake.

The adobe reader probably is better, but I'm having trouble finding it. Know which app store it's in or have a link to the apk?

ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/android/10.x/10.0.2/AdobeReader.apk
If that doesn't work look for it on the adobe page. That's their FTP on the page.

Another thing I wanna ask you. I read somewhere Android 2.3 has a new keyboard. Is it better?

You may try Foxit Reader. Just like Windows versions, Foxit reader is lighter, less resources consuming than Adobe reader. One free feature of Foxit that I like the most is the ability to view/create bookmarks. Other readers only seem to view bookmarks (Adobe even cannot read bookmark). Foxit reader for Android is in beta release, though.

I used the beta too, but ultimately the adobe renders the page continuously faster. In foxit reader when it hit the next page it stops and you have to wait for it to load the page before you can turn it.

Thanks for the link, the Adobe reader is better.
The new keyboard is better. It displays the word you're typing right above the keys so you know immediately when you make a mistake. Also, it puts a big marker under the cursor that you can use to move the cursor more accurately. The marker appears with other keyboards on 2.3, too.

There are some better keyboards for android, what I don't like about the gingerbread keyboard is the small keys.

Swype beta works on the new firmware, and its quick for typing. You slide your finger across the letters to type words.

Posted using swype :)

Edit: It's most likely the update to Swype for WiFi licensing that makes it work, meaning it probably works on the old firmware too.

After some more testing and I figure out how resolve the problem. Apparently it's better to have the music apps on. If you have it off and press the media buttons it turn on in sleep. When have the block sleep disable in the music app the player goes in sleep in 5sec after the music and screen is off. I notice the button stops working after 2sec with the music and screen off. I guess that's what block sleep mode is for, to keep the buttons working after 5sec with the music and screen off.[wacko]
