I have the beatles remastered in flac 24 bit, but my j3 does not Play 24 bit. Is the 3d the solution to this problem?

The solution is to convert the files into 16-bit resolution. When done right that conversion won't affect sound quality at all.

EDIT: Oh sorry... I didn't remember it was you who asked the same question some time ago (and I already answered it.) Nevermind then. [wacko]

The D3 will definitely play 24-bit / 48Khz FLAC, even with the stock player. My personal vinyl rips are in this format (been converting my stuff, in the last month or so). Rockbox will play them, also.

EDIT: The 24-bit Beatles FLAC's work, as well - I actually had "Revolver" on my D3 and should have tested that, first. :) Personally I still prefer the mono mixes.

24/96 Crashes in the stock player ("unknown error"). The Rockbox Android app can play them, however - but not sure how stable it is. I just tried a Mingus album I have and it froze after a minute, but on a second attempt it's working, so far.

Most of the vinyl rips I've done are 24/48 - I used 24/96 at first, but after I looked at the spectrum analysis and noticed that I never really got above 23Khz, I changed over to 24/48 to save a little disk space. My ears can't tell the difference between 48 and 96.

Any suggestions for software/methods for converting 24/96? I've tried Mediamonkey & Foobar, so far, converting to various formats (even down to mp3) and the "unknown error" message appears each time.

SoX (http://sox.sourceforge.net/) might be worth a look. It did the job for me when I needed to downsample from hi-rez.
