View Full Version : Album Based Playlists - Can it be built?

On an iPod it is possible to add an entire album into an on-the-go playlist. This simply results in all the songs from that album being added into the playlist. When I am travelling in my car for an extended period, I create an on-the-go playlist containing all the albums I want to listen to. This playlist then covers my music needs for that entire trip (sometimes many hours) and I don't need to fiddle with my iPod whilst driving. I like this functionality a lot.

On my new Cowon J3 I can't do this of course. The idea of adding each individual song into a playlist is completely unworkable. I am an 'album guy' and that's how I like to listen to music. Individual songs, random mode and other non-album ways of listening to music aren't my thing.

Wondering if it would be possible to build a UCI that operates a bit like the browser but when you get to album level you can add albums into a playlist, essentially the same as the iPod functionality?

I am a programmer and am willing to give it a shot. Is there anyone out there who knows what can/can't be done with UCI's who'd like to comment?

You don't need a new UCI. You just need to browse in folder view. If your albums are sorted in folders then it should be easy to just add the folder like you would a single song.

Ah, very cool. Didn't know you could do this. Problem sorted. Thanks.
