hey folks, I've been using my J3 for about a week now...and let me say: I'm bored. My D3 is well on it's way to my awaiting arms. The D3 seems to focus on ALBUM ART and nothing BUT album art. I don't CARE about album art because out of nearly 5000 songs only two of my albums are tagged properly and contain album art. the sound quality...just isn't as good as my X5. I matched the EQ settings as close as possible to the X5....and it's just...mediocre.

soooo Im not impressed.

My point for posting this topic is: Has the recent firmware update(s) improved on the player stability? is it as smooth/fast as the J3?

It seems like cowon is focusing on gimicks....I need something more quality oriented and real. is the D3, it? D:

If you read the review I posted, as well as other reviews on the D3, the consensus seems to be that the sound is better than the one of the S9 - which I would assume is close to the J3. Now that improvement is to me VERY similar to what I did experience with the X5; but again all that is a question of judgment.

Stability has improved significantly since the first firmware; and the player is now more than usable. This said, you have to be aware that you will experience audio cut-outs - although is getting rare - and the occasional freeze.

It is down to you if you're happy to live with these issues as a tradeoff for awesome sound. I am; and I am quite confident Cowon will continue to churn out firmwares until the player is ready.

Did I say the sound was superb?

THAT, sir (or madame) is WHAT I needed to hear!! :D

My x5 can distort my current headphones PRETTY good...at about 37 for the volume. The j3 can be on 40, and it leaves me begging for more.

Of course my heaphones are crap, but the point is they arent good enough FOR my x5. My old Bose earphones could handle anything the X5 put out.
