View Full Version : Rockbox crashes when Pictureflow is started via WPS Hotkey

Hi.

We currently have another problem with the daily build.

Starting the PictureFlow Plugin via WPS Hotkey from the While Playing Screen and jumping back causes a crash of the player.

This hits all themes and all players but especially those themes with touchareas defined as WPS Hotkey (AF_Flow, AF_Black, AF_Remote and maybe others, too).

To get rid of it please check your *.wps files.
If you have something like this:
T(x,x,x,x,hotkey)
you must not use this area or change it like this:
T(x,x,x,x,browse)

Or - much more easier - make sure that you change the following in your configuration setup:
Settings-General Settings-Hotkey-WPS Hotkey
Switch it to Off if it's set to Pictureplugin.

The bug is filed to Flyspray here (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/11595?project=1&type=2&order=dateopened&sort=desc) and the discussion on the rockbox forum is here (http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=25618.0).

And while staying with an earlier release like r27530 you don't have the problem:D
I hope the releases will get more stable in the near future...

... and as you can see in the rockbox forum they discuss to push the thread to another topic - I took it at the wrong place, too.

r27965 fixed the problem.
You are able to jump correctly and without a crash to the plugin and back.

So all themes with hotkey touchareas will work again, too.

its fixed completely? or just the Pictureflow ?

As I can see:
- no more crashes via PictureFlow, jump to and back works correctly again
- Playlist seems to work correctly
- Rockbox starts with sound

Current issues:
- Pictureflow menu does not use the backdrop or the colours of the theme
- animations are really slow (tested with my AF_Black, will be a problem for themes like retrotape as well)
- the buffer for font loading seems to be decreased (AF_Remote has problems to load the fonts, I'm just recoding the theme)
- redrawing of time based viewports have a problem (AF_Black does not redraw the backdrop when the Onscreen buttons disapear)

My personal conclusion:
"Simple" themes without conditionals with timing (like AF_Sand, AF_Satin, AF_Metal, AF_Wood, AF_Flow and others) work correctly while themes with animations or other time-based actions will stay with problems.
So r27530 stays as my actual release to work with and I have an eye on the current builds

strange, first time I found it useless to use every place I pressed "ERORR" or erorr something appeared on the screen and it crashed losts of times.
so I downgraded to r27530 but after a while I tested the new builts but it didn't even boot mostly or black screen appeared. but now I tested 27996 It boots again no error appears on the screen but now it boots very slow and heavy when I press a button It reacts very slow when I try to shotdown I takes 30 secend and the screen freezes its like your using windows vista on pintium 3, even most times when I try to turn it off it won't turn off the screen well just freez.
so back agian to r27530

And here are the news of today:

r28051 worked well for me:
Only problem is the redraw of viewports in conditionals with timing -> Problem with AF_Black: Touching the screen deletes the whole album art and the track line stays empty for a while.

Attention:
r28058 brings back the blackscreen (FS#11618 (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/11618))!
So we'll have to wait again for a stable release...

Hmm - we should open a thread: experiences with current builds, shouldn't we?

I didn't read the sticked threads - you're totally right and I am sorry. [oops]
Next time I'll post it in the Current Status thread.
