Cowon J3 International x Korean ?

I Want to Buy a Cowon J3. There are some discuss about Korean 'version' which displays korean symbols,have a korean dic,and different firmware versions.

How can I know what version I am buying ? I want a International/English/Non-Korean version.
Is the international not made in Korea? or its just a firmware difference?

Because I was going to buy through eBay(worldwide shipping) and don't know which J3 'version' was that. The Item is in the US. But I asked where it was manufactured, and the seller said it was Korea made.

and One more thing, is it worth to buy a screen protector? I never seen one. It won't cause malfunction of the Touch Screen ?

It doesn't matter, so long as you do not buy the "DMB" model you can load the international firmware onto any J3. Even then, the Korean firmware supports all the same languages as the international firmware.

The international ones are also made in korea.
If you buy the DMB less version it will come with a 1.xx (korea) or 2.xx (international) firmware, DMB ones are with 3.xx (korea) firmware. I quiet sure you will buy a DMB less J3 so it will most likely come with 1.xx/2.xx. With 1.xx firmware you can : easily change the language to english or install 2.xx firmware on it. If you are not going to use MTP mode and the j3 come with 1.xx firmware i suggest just change the languages.

I have no idea, but all Cowon products are made in Korea. Koreans are very proud of their country, a lot more so than many western countries.

Ok, I stand corrected. I'm pretty sure I read that--about them being made in China--in some post on here or at anythingbutipod. :D

South Korea has come a long way in the past 10 years. I still remember when Samsung was thought of as crap--total crap. Made in Korea was something to run away from 10 years ago--think Hyundai cars. But I acknowledge that Samsung and some other Korean brands are coveted now a days as superior quality products.

I think when he said he has no idea he meant he has no idea that why even the international versions were made in korea or why you are under that impression. Can you link us to that thread, the only one i found related to this china/korea thing is http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11844, and inside the thread dfkt said that some older and cheaper Cowon/iAudio players are made in China and i don't think it applied to the j3 ( and the thread was from 2007..)

It came with firmware 1.03.
Don't know how to start,should/can I Update it to which version?

And a bad thing,Less than 30 minutes of owning, it freezes. Damn Typist !" But thats a known issue.
