When I view music in landscape mode using the standard interface, the J3 displays all the various album covers, which I can sweep through.

I assumed that the J3 would display one album cover for each album. However, I have one album called "Bach Cello Suites". It contains 36 tracks, numbered 01 - 36. The album tag for every track is "Bach Cello Suites". There are 6 suites within the folder and the file names and titles are labelled

Bach Cello Suite #1 01 etc
Bach Cello Suite #2 01 etc
Bach Cello Suite #3 01 etc
etc up to Cello Suite #6
Despite the fact that all of the suites and all of the files have the same Album Tag, somehow the J3 manages to distinguish between the 6 suites, and displays an album cover for each of the 6 suites - but it is the same cover art, because there is only one cover.jpg for the whole folder.

Can anyone explain what is going on here? I don't really want 6 identical album covers displaying for the one album.

I'd love to help you figure this out, but I have no similar collection of music. Clearly the J3 sees whatever tag you are using for "Suite" as an album differentiator. It's probably done to keep track of any other multi-disc/single album sets. I like seeing seperate covers (even if they are the same) for discs one and two of a two disc set. I can see how your 6 suite album can be overwhelming.

It can often be the album artist tag that causes multiple albums to show up. It may not be in this case, but it is worth considering for others.

In this case, do the suites have a difference year tag? If so, It may be that.

I think it must be because, when I first put the files onto the J3, each Suite had a separate Album tag. I then changed the the tages using Mp3Tag directly on the J3. The J3 database must have somehow kept the old information. When I deleted all the files off the J3, changed the tags on my hard drive and copied them back over to the J3, the problem disappeared.
