I have done some searching but not found anything useful so apologies if it is around here somewhere.

My question. Is there a D2 Rockbox emulator that runs on windows so you can test themes without having to load them onto your player each time you change something.

TIA

Yes.
Please read the sticky threads - more specifically, the second-last question in the FAQ thread. :)

Thanks for that.

In my defence the FAQ was
Q. How do I save my favourite settings?

and I was searching for 'emulator' as opposed to 'simulator'.

The links were a little hidden away there

No big deal at all, I agree, but it isn't something which is requested very often by D2 users, hence it isn't directly in the FAQ ;)
For future reference, although it doesn't always apply, as a general rule emulators emulate hardware whereas simulators mimic software, and Rockbox is software :)
Do you think it's worthwhile adding an FAQ entry with something like "Is there an emulator or simulator for Rockbox I can try out before I install it?"
