View Full Version : g3 System recovery help
Is it possible to do a system recovery? And if so, how?
This is all i get after my nice firmware update =/

It doesn't get any connection when i click on firmware download, and the player is acting dead. (XP still finds it when i connect it to my computer though)
I've tried with 1.30 too.

It is not obvious what you have tried so far - do you know how to do a recovery mode firmware update (run the upgrade software, connect the G3 to the PC with no battery, and with power on button held down - release it after 10-15 seconds .. watch the PC tell you it's found a new device type .. etc. etc. (read the instructions associated with the 1.30 firmware upgrade)??
How far through that process does it get?
Feels like i have tried with everything.. I did if i understood you correctly this way:
1.Click on startmenu ->Cowon->Iaudio G3->Firmware Update
2.Hold the playbutton down
3.Connect the USB-cabel to the G3.
It takes a few seconds, then the PC alerts a new device has been connected, then it recognices Iaudio G3.
I have never seen this "Recovery Mode" been enabled..
The Cowon Firmware update program is looking and looking but can't find anything - Finally it says - "Media is not initialized". Now i can click on ok and come to the window where you can click on Start&Close (Download Options -Format Data Area) It goes on for a minute before it says :
"Operating system reported error: The semaphore timeout period has expired"
And if i click on my computer - i can see a Removable Disk has appeared though.. --> XP finds it.
I've tried with holding the playbutton down for a few seconds after&before the connection to holding it down for several minutes, no difference.
I dont know if you guys understand what i try to say, have been working for the last 13hours and my english sucks. ; )
Time to sleep soon ZZzzZ

++ remove battery from G3 before this point.
++ Reboot PC at least one time between isntalling the firmware upgrade package and running it.

++ Somewhere in here you actually have to turn the G3 on, if I rememeber right.

Hmm,well if it still doesn't work with the additions I've mentioned then I guess you need to send it back to the shop and get it swapped..
