Just got my 4GB Cowon D2, flashed it to D2+ with 3.11 firmware and Cassini's OLED III theme loaded. Got Rockbox installed, but it doesn't boot. It gets to thee Rockbox welcome screen, then it says "Loading rockbox.d2.....Read failed (image)"

What exactly am I doing wrong? I followed the instructions to a "t", installed the Cowon_3.11_D2N_P.bin (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zwnja2uzwym) from the OP.

BTW, the OP is here: http://iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=28773

Thanks, Brendan

do you have a memory card in the d2? i had something similar happen to me when i just started out with rockbox. apparently it was trying to boot from the sd card instead of the main memory. all i had to do was remove the card every time i wanted to boot rockbox. pretty simple but kind of annoying...
hope this helps.

I'll try that again then, thanks...I've noticed the patched FW file overwrites the font patch of the OLED III theme...if I reinstall the font patch on the D2, will that cause problems for rockbox?

No, the font patch won't be a problem.

The read error probably indicates errors in the data read from your D2's internal memory. Rockbox currently doesn't do any error-correction (ECC) of the data, so these kind of problems will occur from time to time. All I can suggest at the moment is to unzip rockbox.zip a second time and try again...

Tried it again, now it gives me 'No partition found'.

Nvm, all is well now...only thing, could anyone patch Cassini's font patch FW file (for the OLED III Premium Rework Suite, 3.11FW) with the rockbox bootloader?

Thanks, Brendan

OMG I have to learn how to search....everything is finally set...this was by far the hardest install of Rockbox...

Thanks to everyone who helped!
